Introducing the newest (and laziest) member of the Skype emoticon family

We’ve been working really hard to bring you a very laid back way to express yourself. If you follow us on Twitter, you may have noticed our #SkypeSuggestion campaign over the past few weeks—your chance to tell us new ideas for your dream emoticon.

We were overwhelmed and thrilled with the amount of suggestions you submitted. Rest assured, we went through each and every one of them (and couldn’t help but laugh at some of the more quirky ideas). In the end, three leading designs were uncovered and we asked you to vote for your favorite.

Today, hot on the heels of our exciting new Power Women release, we’re delighted to introduce you to the winner… (Drumroll please) … the newest, cutest and definitely our laziest way to express yourself to date. Introducing the latest member of our emoticon family—please welcome Sloth!

Sloths, famous for their go-slow attitude to life, attribute their bone idleness to metabolic adaptations for conserving energy. Our new lazy friend is perfect for those times when you just can’t get up, need a nap, want to take it slow—or just need a cute sloth in your life.

And for those of you who might be curious to see what happens behind the scenes, here is a short video showing the making of our latest Skype emoticon.

A massive thank you to all of you who submitted your awesome suggestions. We’ll make sure to keep your ideas for potential future emoticons. In the meantime, check out our full list of emoticons (including the hidden ones—ssshhhh), and start playing around with them in your Skype chats.

Don’t see the newest Mojis and emoticons? Make sure you have the latest Skype app and your emoticon picker should get updated very shortly. To share your feedback, please head over to the Skype Community.
