Skype and Rogue Octopus bring people together through music

From city to city, country to country, we’re driven by our mission of bringing people together from wherever they are, and it’s why we look for partners with similar beliefs. With that in mind, we’re excited to announce a new creative partnership with independent music agency Rogue Octopus.

Like Skype, Rogue Octopus brings people together, but instead of using instant messaging or HD video calling, they’re connecting people through their love of great music. Founded by Jen Czeisler—who previously oversaw the sync licensing department at Sub Pop—Rogue Octopus specializes in promoting artists and labels in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Czeisler has helped bands like The Shins, Iron & Wine, The Postal Service, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, and CSS make a lasting mark on the music scene.

We’ve worked closely with Rogue Octopus’ Super Square, Otieno Terry, and The Gods Themselves on new music Mojis that capture the spirit of their music. Each Moji is designed in the visual style of the artists, and we can’t wait for you to experiment with these new and exciting ways to express yourself on Skype.

More about the artists and their Mojis:

Super Square

By igniting dance floors with club-rocking tracks, Super Square brings their expressive melodies and pop savvy hooks to the EDM scene. The trio consists of DJ Jimmy Hits, producer A Rival, and vocalist Helen Euguene. From headlining Los Angeles’ most prestigious EDM club to their residency at Marquee Sydney, Super Square is setting out to forever change the nightclub experience around the world. By combining a bright color range, concentric lines, and motion, we created a set of Mojis that embody the fun and upbeat spirit of Super Square.

Since the early 2000s, band members Astra Elane, Collin O’Meara, and Dustin Patterson have all been active in the Pacific Northwest’s live music scene. Now as members of The Gods Themselves (TGT), they each contribute a unique imprint of perceptions, passions and life experiences, shaping a sound that echoes of 80’s dance beats, raw, angular guitars and art-punk aplomb. They aim to create music that is heart-moving, hip-shaking, and interesting. Using visual inspiration from the 60’s and 70’s, our Mojis look to embody the celebratory and groovy nature of their music.
