Skype 3.6 for Windows Beta, High Quality Video
Today we have released a new version of Skype for Windows.
Skype 3.6 for Windows is currently in a open beta state which means that we are still working on it to make it ready for production level use and nail down possible rough edges.
This new release is all about video, it introduced new quality standard for video calls, you can now make video calls with resolution of 640x480 and up to 30 frames per second.
To make such high quality video calls you need to have following configuration:
* A computer with dual core processor
* A Logitech High Quality webcam, with latest webcam software from Logitech
* Sufficient bandwidth (we recommend upload bandwidth 380kb/s and above)
See more info in FAQ's.
We would like to encourage you all to give us a feedback how your video calls are going and how Skype 3.6 Beta for Windows generally is behaving, so we can make it better for all of you.
You can leave us feedback on Skype forums and report issues with Skype on our public issue tracker Jira.

why don't you include some more translations in Skype installation? (most popular ones?) installation is big (or not) enough already, and Skype translations are pretty small files.

great, high res video ! but will we ever see this on the linux client ? Or should we wait for another 2-3 years for that to be included ?
g.riviere commented Monday, Oct 15
We may have to wait for some years more until the basic Video version came up on Linux side.
By the way, I also waited for a long time to see a good version of Skype too put on my Ubuntu. The 1.4 is not so bad, but, in comparison to the Windows one it look like a draft or a prototype version.
I agree with rbiering, please add a full support for VIDEO in Linux skype version ...
[TROLL ] Skype + Video, please use a decent OS (VISTA) [/TROLL]

Great, but when is a Vista compatible version coming out -- a lot of people won't even bother installing this till we know it's a vista compatible product. Personally, I stopped using skype when I stopped using XP. Would be nice to have it again though.

Is this version also fix the bug with Vista (if I put my laptop to sleep, after waking the Skype cant connect)?

Now that I have switched from Windows XP to Windows Vista, when will you have a version that will be compatible with Vista?
markgerrard commented Sunday, Nov 4
Sounds great... but I use Vista so it doesn't work... Very disappointed about how slow skype has integrated with Vista...
blinkin_25back commented Saturday, Nov 17
it's pretty ok to me, both sound and video are good except sometimes Vista has to suddenly stop (blue screen)to prevent the problem from skype. However, I cannot stop using skype... so I'm taking risk...
How shortly will the version compatible with Vista be released?
