Unfortunately it did not fix Installer error in my case. I have tried almost everything when trying to upgrade from older version. Still getting error 1603.

I don't know what's going on with the Skype people. For a long time, it was so easy to install updates. It doesn't matter whatever version I download, I get the same error message. I tried everything the experts from Skype told me to do, including wiping out all skype entries on the registry and install the program afresh. If someone has worked something out, please help !!!

Great, now it's messed up my installation too. It was all working fine, it prompted me to download the new version, and I get the error above. Thanks a lot.

I found a solution. go to regedit, find the SKYPE\PHONE\UI reg entry under current software. Change the permissons and add your user logon as a group and allow yourself full control. delete the entire skype entry. install skype, should work.

After installing Windows 7 64bit, Skype didn't work anymore. Tried to reinstall, but even after thoroughly cleaning the disk and registry, I still get the 1603 message. Does this mean I can't ever use Skype anymore, despite the money on my account?

well I guess yohoo IM is the way to go as I can no longer use skype I constantly get 1603 error when i try to reload and skype is dead on my computer I used to recommend Skype I no longer can

Had on old version of Skype, can't remember which one, and tried to upgrade to the newest one. Halfway during the install, I too got 1603. Nothing works and I can no longer use Skype, it's a dead program to me. Will this problem get fixed so people can use your program again?
