Skype for Mac 2.5 Gold
Today, 31st January, we have released Gold version of Mac 2.5.
It has one new feature and many improvements in addition to multiply bugfixes. Everyone is suggested to update their clients.

Version released is 2.5.0.85, it has following changes compared to previous version:
* new feature: birthday notifications
* improvement: new Video codec
* improvement: updated Localizations
* improvement: added voicemail expiry date into MySkype area
* improvement: added "Send SMS" to the context menu of history list

I just tested this out on my new iMac running the latest OS. The echo problem is severe on my new iMac running the latest OS. This issue has also been reported at this link https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SCM-178.
I'm a testing engineer for a large cell phone company, and I'm just wondering how comes this kind of show stopper issue is not mentioned anywhere in their release notes and more fundamentally how could they release this load as a gold build.

Unfortunately Skype remains pretty much unusable on my Macs, I have to switch to Windows to get rid of the echo. I refuse to wear a headset to overcome inadequacies in the software. I use Skype extensively across the Atlantic.
I have tried mac to mac, mac to windows, windows to mac and windows to windows. Any time there is a mac involved the echo is so bad I have to continually hit the mute button to stop the feedback loop. I wind up booting my macbook Pro in Windows and calling my wife on her Windows machine. Not a great advert for Skype for the Mac.
I have tried reducing the input volume of the Mic's and the volume at either end and the only tme it doesn't echo is when one or other volume is off.
What's above gold? Whatever it is you need to get some and make a new Mac version.
