Skype Beta for Windows Phone with free video calling

We are pleased to announce the availability of Skype Beta for Windows Phone. Click this link directly from your Windows Phone to get started or check out the Marketplace from your computer.

Skype for Windows Phone supports the basic set of Skype features, like video calling and IM. You can read more about the app in general from our Big Blog post.

Skype Beta for Windows Phone includes the following features:

• Skype to Skype audio calling
• Skype to Skype video calling
• Calling landlines and mobiles
• One-to-one and group instant Messaging
• Profile and account views
• Mood message and profile picture updates from your buddies
• Metro user interface

We have tested and certified the following devices for the best performance of Skype for Windows Phone:

• Samsung Focus S
• Samsung Focus Flash

Skype 0.2.0.0 Beta for Windows Phone has currently a few not implemented features and known issues. Most notably Skype is currently only in English, though we plan to expand the number of languages in the production release. Skype for Windows Phone does not run in the background, thus you will not be able to receive incoming calls and chats if Skype is not in foreground. Please study the list before using the application:

Contacts	It is not yet possible to add new contacts	You may add new contacts from your Skype account on a different device.

Contacts	It is not yet possible to block contacts or view blocked contacts	You may block and view blocked contacts from your Skype account on a different device.
Feedback form	Online feedback form button does not work	In the *general* pivot under Settings, visit the Skype community forum to leave feedback and get help.
IM	It is not possible to receive IM's when Skype is not in foreground	None available
IM	It is not possible to enter IM's in symbolic languages, like Japanese, Korean, Arabic, etc.	None available
Localization	The application is available in English only	None available
Presence	It is not possible to set your Presence currently. While you are logged into Skype for Windows Phone, your presence is automatically set to "online" while the app is in the foreground.	None available
Voice Messages	It is not possible to retrieve Voice Messages directly from the phone	You may retrieve voice messages from your Skype account on a different device.
