Skype now available on the Palm Pre 2 from Verizon Wireless

Skype on the Palm Pre 2We’re working constantly to bring Skype to as many mobile devices as possible, and we’re excited to announce that Skype is now available on the Palm Pre 2 from Verizon Wireless.

With Skype mobile built in, you can make free calls to friends and family on Skype, great value calls to landlines and mobile phones overseas, and send IMs to people on Skype anywhere in the world.

All calls run on the largest and most reliable wireless network in the US, which helps to make sure that call quality is top-notch, and lets you use your favorite accessories, including Bluetooth headsets.

The skype call route through Verizon PSTN! Not true VOIP. Please bring Skype to all webOS devices with true VOIP.

What are you plans regarding Skype for the Pre 2 for the rest of the world?

Thanks

@benfysh nothing to announce right now – watch this space!

I agree that true VoIP is dearly awaited! Hopefully soon those outside the US may get this!
As for the app.. how does it work for others? It would be nice if I could see my friend's video feed, and it seems to crash and otherwise be unavailable at times, but my phone is a bit of kludge tho so..
Exciting news nonetheless!

Skype for anybody on the PRE2 would be fantastic. Now with the WebOS 2.1 at least a version where we can use the IM Client should be a good start and then the VOIP later. Right now there isn't even the IM client part...

PLEASE!! Pretty, pretty please...

Not just the Pre2 ... Skype should work on WebOS generally. I mean, face it, there IS a linux version already out. And WebOS is basically linux. It can't be tha much of a hazzle to create a fork off the original linux version of skype. Why after tweo years, there is still no Version for WebOS, goes beyond understanding.
That's just sad.

I concur; please bring Skype for WebOS to all Palm Pre 2's!
