Is the ability to check voicemail even on the radar, since we, you know, actually pay for the ability to use voicemail and have no way to check it using the app? Right now I have to forward calls to another number so I can get voicemails on my mobile, once my skype subscription runs out I may just cut out the middle man = skype.

That's nice. But most Galaxy S phones are on 2.1, including the AT&T Captivate. That link only updates firmware, it will not update your phone to 2.2 (Froyo).

Just open the market app on your galaxy S and search for skype. In the search results it appears as the 1st listing. Click on it to install.

Skype video is being passed by fast by android video apps like Tango which are interoperable between andriod devices like EVO 4G and Iphone 4. Skype should get a Skype video app for android out to market in order to protect its brand.

1) Sign/out exit: My Info - Sign out.
2) What is 15MB nowadays? Seriously! Get another memory card with xGB.
3) Updating to Froyo 2.2 is so easy - Google is your friend ...
4) Cannot find Skype. Google Market enabler and fake for US or Europe. It's there!

This is the most ridiculous thing I've found in this tech era. Skype for android? Not found on android market!!!!!!!! Most ridiculous. Skype site gives a link, but never goes thru. This is highly deplorable especially when we have skype, android. Facebook all being promoted by the same bunch of guys.

2.2 update is not that easy due to crap kies. As for skype, recent drop in call quailty and lack of videocalls on android means i'll be changing to fring.
Does this version let you make voice calls?
will it keep you signed in?

Sorry. Just tried your Barcode link. What do I get - the same as usual - Sorry, Skype is unavailable for your mobile. (Samsung Galaxy S running 2.2 in UK). Thoroughly disillusioned and frankly dismayed that I can only log in via computer. I would not, and will not, recommend this software to clients.

I have a HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2.1. Voice calls with this and the previous version of Skype for Android are of very poor quality, half the words of a sentence just fall away in cracky sounds. Most of the time it is not possible at all to hold a conversation. Even on Wifi connections. On Skype for Android forums it was mentioned by a Skype affiliate that this is because of the low-end processor in the HTC Wildfire. I think that's a load of bs. I did not have these problem with Fring or Nimbuzz, 2 superior VOIP products that used to also offer Skype calls but are now being blocked by Skype because they made Skype look bad. Also, phones with a far less impressive processor than the HTC Wildfire can serve voice calls. This is a poor excuse of an Android app. You should take your customers more seriously and don't hold them for fools.

Although on SD, it still takes 3MB from the internal memory for "Data" - what is it? Can these data be stored on SD as well?

I just got a Sprint HTC EVO 4G phone and found that skype is installable on it to work only on wifi connections. I plan to use it to call land line phones. However, the version I installed doesn't support using the speakerphone feature of the phone. This is important to implement as the volume isn't loud enough.

i have Froyo 2.2 installed & latest Skype installed on my Galaxy S. Still does not work. When i try to sign in, it just returns me to the sign in screen with no message or error. Exactly the same as it did with previous skype version.

Cannot log in to my Skype account on Nexus S, Gingerbread 2.3.2, UK. Something about Skype and Samsung phones obviously...
The funny thing is that Skype's main asset when it first came out is that it *just worked*, on any computer... that legacy of clever programming has obviously been lost!

So people in Iceland cannot access the link for download or whatever... and seems like people in the Faroe Islands cannot access www.skype.com/m at all. Heard stories about people in the Faroe Islands needed to put in a SIM-card bought in Denmark to be abel to get any use out of www.skype.com/m

Skype has sold out and no longer serves my needs! I am a retired minister and a long time Skype users that feels betrayed by the Verizon only deal!
I have had problems with the big V in the past and will never use their service again...
pissing off clients only causes other companies to gain customers!!!!

ok, so i just got the SGS Epic w/ sprint running Android 2.1 and downloaded the skype app. i'm having the same problem as everyone else and my phone says "signing in" forever w/ no progress or error msg. i've been checking out this blog for a while and tried a few of the suggesions to no avail. why have the app in the store if i can't freakin use it? the Samsung Epic is one of the popular phones in the United States right now. why wouldn't skype want to make their system accessible to it? i don't expect my post to be replied to because i haven't seen the skype reps reply to many other w/ this issue but it would be nice to have some sort of feedback.
