Skype To Go now for all paying users
Skype To Go
Now for all paying users
We launched Skype To Go back in 2007, and it’s been so popular that we’ve decided to offer it to everyone with Skype Credit.
A Skype To Go number lets you make super low-cost international calls from mobiles and landlines. When you’re on the move, dial the Skype To Go number from any phone to reach your friends, family or business partners abroad. Skype To Go numbers are local numbers, so if they’re included in your phone’s calling plan, you’ll pay only the low Skype rates for the calls you make.
With a Skype To Go number, you can call your friend in Australia, your son on holiday in South America, or your colleague in Tokyo at Skype’s super-low rates from a landline or mobile phone – no matter where you are. Skype To Go lets you take low-cost calls everywhere.

It'd be absolutely wonderful if you could make this available to Norway.

hello, Canada???? it's next to US, still can't believe the service is not available here.

As usual, Skype hates Canadians.
I still don't know why I bother paying for my unlimited subscription anymore, I don't get half the value countries such as the US and Australia get.
No Skyoe-to-go, no SkypeIn... see? Skype hates Canadians!

Hey guys. Can i call to Moscow like that? I can't find my country on the list.

CHINA is a big market for skype, and so many chinese are like to use skype everyday, why there is no china skypein, skype to go number in skype? i hope the skype can give me answer!
canuckisman commented Thursday, Feb 26
It's frustrating for us canucks but I'm pretty sure Skype would love to offer Skype to Go in Canada. Write our CRTC overlords for an explanation of why the telco marketplace in Canada is so inflexible.

when and where do I get my skype to go number? I have entered my phone and pin. will Ireceive the to go number via email?
And why isn't Italy included. There has to be more skype users in Italy than any other country.
terminuz commented Thursday, Feb 26
I am using Skype To Go + Skype Unlimited World. It is quite awesome, because for $100 per year I get free unlimited calls to landlines globally from my mobile, wherever I am in the US. Very very handy.
gleydson.macedo commented Thursday, Feb 26
Hey guys! You are being beat by few cents by most of the phone companies when making calls from Canada to Brazil.
Wouldn't it be great if the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo fees were the same for the whole country?
Yes, this is a rhetoric one, but it's not weird to call your attention to that.
And won't you ever have a "contact us" page?
Thanks!

Is there a mechanism for letting us know if the Country list expands? I also await a Norwegian number.

Peter Parkes commented Thursday, Mar 19
@jon.carroll01 I'll definitely post on this blog if we expand the list - take a look at the subscription options at the top right of the page to make sure you don't miss out ![]()

What?! I can call to Rwanda but can't call to Russia? That's just lame. Your marketing department couldn't resists from announcing this half-baked service on Christmas, right?
I will stick with Google Voice.

I have been in contact with CRTC via their online complaint form and received this reply from them:
Dear Mr. Taylor:
Thank you for taking the time to contact the CRTC.
The CRTC is not directly involved in regulating the services provided by internet based services. Wireless, long distance and internet services are competitive services and are subject to very limited CRTC regulation. The Commission does not regulate their rates, quality or provision of service, or their business practices.
In order for international companies such as Skype to provide Canadian numbers, they would have to become a Canadian reseller. To do that, they would have to enter into a business relationship with a Canadian carrier. They would then obtain the Canadian numbers from that carrier as well as other services required by Skype to provide a PSTN-interconnected service. This applies to all foreign companies wanting to provide Canadian numbers.
To the extent that Skype interconnects with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in Canada - that is to say, it connects with other telephone numbers whose users have not downloaded the Skype software - Skype has certain obligations. Skype would be required to register with the CRTC; enter into a business relationship with a Canadian carrier to obtain interconnection to the PSTN; and, as a matter of pubic safety, Skype would need to ensure that calls made to 911 are completed through 911 call centres, also known as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). As in the case of numerous other competitive service providers in Canada, it is a business decision of Skype, if it chooses to meet these obligations and offer such a service in Canada.
For more information about the services offered by Skype, or its availability with your service provider, you should contact Skype and your service provider. If you make Skype aware of your desire for its services it may keep this in mind when it is assessing its business decisions as to the types of services it will make available in Canada.
I have also sent them back this reply to their response:
Why do we have these ridiculous requirements in Canada where as in the rest of the countries (Including the US) Skype is able to make the disclaimer that it is not for emergency calls and does not replace a regular phone system. We as Canadians are not interested in these restrictions imposed by CRTC (For the sole purpose of making it harder for interested competitive systems to be allowed into Canada) and want them lifted so that we can enjoy this service!
Until such time as this is resolved I will be directing / Encouraging other people to also post this complaint with you (Unless you can direct me to whomever is directly responsible for these regulations that other countries do not seem to have problems with).
Carl
I would encourage everyone who wants Skypein phone numbers in Canada to go to CRTC's website and start posting on a weekly basis our dissatisfaction with this situation until it gets resolved. We have been waiting long enough and it is about time that CRTC's outdated regulations to protect the local phone companies got lifted!

I'm wondering if anyone else is being charged 56 cents per minute by Skype on the go? Regular Skype works fine for me but I talked for 43 minutes to my sister who lives in my country (Canada) and had to pay $24.08 for a call that would only have cost $8.60 otherwise.

hello!
please help me out with the following. For over a year I had a Skype to Go number and it was perfect. Yesterday I tried to change my saved numbers and my Skype to Go number doesn't work anymore. I press my phone number and pin, but my pin isn't recognized. I tried to do it all over again, but not I get a Skype to Go number for every of my speed dial numbers. How can I fix it? I really need the service of dialing through Skype and not only to my saved numbers. Thanks!!!

I'm slightly confused. I currently live in Italy for school and would like to call home to the united states. Am i allowed to used Skype to Go? Or would it only work while i am in the united states? i would be using my american phone.... not my italian phone. Anything, even a "yes" or "no" would help.
Thanks
