even though it is too early to call out anything definite yet we are now seeing signs of improvement in our sign-on performance. We continue to monitor the situation through Europe waking up this morning and have more for you in approximately 4 hours.
My client is now occasionally bringing in stacks of unread multichats. Hope yours too.

on my ubuntu box...skype is running like 100% for the last 2 hours...but on the xp it's still a little more tempermental.

I have managed to sign into Skype but when all my contacts appear I am told I am not connected and the connection button greys out and starts whirling to sign me in again. So, at 7.48 in the UK it is still not working.

I left my Skype ON the whole night. This morning I have managed to sign into Skype and the connection button was green for about 5 minutes than turned gray! It keeps going On and Of. In Paris, at 8.54 the thing is not yet working fine! Good luck!

It's 8.55 am CET and my connection is still mostly out. It will come on for a few minutes, and then lose it again. Thanks for the great work you're doing at resolving the issue. I knew I depended on Skype a lot, but I never realised to which point until now.

Well, I'm online and so are 3.2 million people. My colleague is online too, and he says, there's a little less than 2.8 million people online. Together that's almost like usual 6-7 million people online at this time of day.
However we both cannot initiate a chat between us, we both appear offline to each other.
Looks like you've split the login server in smaller parts.
In any way, keep up the good work. If there's something we can do to help you with this issue, let us know.

3:20am Boston, MA on the linux box, skype runs, stays green, and my contacts show up. The only thing, that I can see that doesn't work, is chat. But, on xp, it's still as gray as all can be.

Have not been able to log onto Skype since yesterday here in South Africa. I get the window with all my addresses, but all are grey. When I go to accounts I cannot change status - nothing is checked in status menu. All others in SA experiencing same problem. I hope Skype is spending some of the millions it has made fixing this problem, because not even our horrible phone company ever left me hanging for over 24 hours!

Still the same for me here in Denmark, like yesterday Skype is using a lot of time to log on, and if I finally get log on, I can only see one or two people. I can not chat or call anybody, after a little while it logs off again and starts trying to log on the system again. This is repeated over an over again.
Good luck with finding out the errors.

Germany 9:45AM , There was only for few seconds a connection after this it change to the grey colour.

Am in Japan. And am still not able to login. Have downloaded latest version of 3.5.0.214 and tried, but still cannot login. Still waiting anxiously for this to be fixed. Thanks to all the hardwork put in by Skype team.

8:18 GMT in Boston and horray...for ubuntu + skype...it's working, even the peer-to-peer, horray!! But, on xp still a sad situation.
But I am not complaining either way. I've been using skype, way before ebay and they have never let me down. Even after this fiasco, I still plan to use skype...because the reliability is undeniable. And plus, skype, after all is a program. And we all know how that goes. I,and I bet a few others...learned this lesson a long time ago. Not to count on 1 computer or 1 unique software to do it all, all the time.
And I would like to thank everyone over there and everywhere that's working on this problem. I know, it's tedious to say the least...good luck to finding the problem.

I have been unable to connect to the Skype system for 2 days now and thought that it was a problem at my end until I chanced upon this blog. I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to notify people when there's a problem, as I have no doubt there are others like me.

Well, it's 10.01 IST here in Ireland and Skype is still down. But it looks worse. Whereas yesterday it appeared sometimes, frequently only for less than a minute, no sign whatever of any skype service today. More fresh brains?

Finland 12.05 pm (GMT+3) Still going on and off. Noticed that if you once get in and have a call with someone, it doesn't disconnect even tho it goes to grey 'connecting' from green 'online'. Won't accept logging on, if grey with the arrows in circle. The other end of my call is in west coast, usa, and they have the same problems. Using another messenger til this is fixed. Waiting for some news about this worldwide problem. Thanks for working hard
ps. I like this blog, it's nice to know that other people are having same problems, otherwise i would think my computer wasn't working right.
Is there a problem between Microsoft Windows updates and skype or have i just been imagining things?

In Sweden it's still shaky..
It changes quickly from green to grey..
(and green has always been my favorite coulor.)
You don't see how much you are depending on things until there down.

It`s 7.15pm Friday 17th in Australia..Still having problems..I have managed to log in a couple of times but it drops out after a couple of mins..I have managed to make 1 call to a mobile before it dropped out again..Keep working on it guys.

Its unbelievable - I was in the telko and IP business for years and we maintained also worlwide carrier and IN nets - how can someone do so stupid things and why are these guys not able to reply the last changes they made ?? How unprofessional must someone be ?? - From the extra fees introduced with each and every call they could have hired real good guys not those little unprofessional noops. Well - I am really pissed when i see this unprofessional work outside. It is now 11:20 in France and still NO LOGIN !!! Guys get on your feet

I was able to sign into Skype momentarily today to add a new contact, but Windows XP keeps giving me these "Skype has encounted a problem and needs to close." dialogs..with the "Send Error Report" buttons.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon, I miss Skyping people.

Am I the only one who thinks that 24 hours (which it is now approaching here in Germany) of downtime is completely unacceptable? Maybe it's because I use SkypeOut, SkypeIn and many other pay services none of which I have access to (do I have any voicemails? well, I'm not sure) that I find the cheery tone of all these updates ("thanks for your messages of support" as opposed to "we apologize for allowing this to happen and here are the steps we are taking to make sure this doesn't happen again...EVER") irritating. But no matter. If this does happen again, it'll be the last dime I send Skype's way. I'll find another VoIP solution.

Have to say I agree broadly with this. 24 hours is an insane time to be down. And how can Skype people dare to say "Skype has not CRASHED... it's only an algorithm problem..." Bullshit: a CRASH is a CRASH is a CRASH...

Deep in the desert of Doha, just had my wireless linksys connected and it works, except for Skype. Trying to get the grey button green provede impossible - then looking for help I chanced on this share site. Thank goodness it's not me.
Imagine that! Not for a moment did it cross my mind that it was a skype glitch! That's the power of the brand.

Since a few days I have a serious problem with my Skype. I can't turn from offline to online.I reinstalled Skype considering that the problem comes from me. Now I see this problem have people all around Europe. So is in Bulgaria. I hope the skype administration will handle this as soon as possible. And at the end one advise to them. Many companies perform free call out credit for their users in order to win them as clients. I am curious why the same policy is so unpleasant for Skype managers. Thank for your attention!!!

Just after noon here in Italy and connection is still spotty. Hope it gets resolved soon! I agree it's not acceptable, but, on the other hand, it's the first time something like this has happened to me with Skype - so I'm still a way ahead of the several spates of weeks without internet/landline service I've experienced from Telecom Italia .

ITs the same as others. skype gose on skype gose off. it has been like thet for the last 24hrs. but my cosin slill has it fully. we talked on skype when it looked like it was off on my computer. do your best guys . then have a beer and a rest. hopefully 2morro you will have it sorted.

Well, I have got to say that I am surprised at how many people are griping about this situation. If you have to depend solely on Skype for your business rethink it, clearly that does not make good business sense! As for the rest of you who just use Skype for communication, whether with loved ones or just reaching out, grow up! They are clearly working on the problem. This is the first time EVER we have had a problem with Skype. I have had problems way more often with Internet access, cell phone signals, satellite signals etc. and yes landlines that have been down for over 24 hours, it is a hindrance but allow time for the problem to be repaired. I have found Skype service to be exceptional and appreciate the ability to respond frequently to the quality of my calls. I never get that from ANY other company!

Still no connection in Barcelona.The green light is on but when I click on contact or try to dial a warning comes up that I used an invalid password...Utter nonsense as it was resent to me yesterday and I have used it several times here today.Who is trying to fool whom?
