A short pirate story - in 1607 a crew of Algerian pirates raided the village of Baltimore, West Cork. They raped and pillaged before capturing many women into slavery. Only the fair, English settlers were taken - the local women were spared because of their fiersomeness. Poem by Thomas Osborne Davis - http://www.baltimore-ireland.com/heritage/sackpoem.html.
