Join JacksGap in the fight against climate change

We’ve always loved following JacksGap on their adventures around the world. Where they go we follow. So now that the guys have their sights set on raising their voices and educating the world on climate change, they’re inviting all of us to join them and be part of the movement.

We recently caught up with Jack after the duo’s weeklong stint in Greenland where they filmed their next offering, “Our Changing Climate” in partnership with WWF (due to be released next week), and learned about all the effects of climate change. Here’s what he had to say:

What inspired you to get involved with the climate change movement?

Climate change is, quite literally, the most important issue on the planet. If we neglect to address it, future generations will perish and the world as we know it will cease to exist. It’s less climate “change,” more a climate crisis. At JacksGap we have an opportunity to amplify the voices of scientists and campaigners, which is exactly what we set out to do.

Had you ever been to Greenland before? What did you learn while you were there?

We’d never been before – it was truly incredible. Not only was it remarkable to see the scale of the ice sheet, it was terrifying to see experiments first hand that show how fast it’s melting.

How do you feel a platform like Skype can a make a difference in the global fight to combat climate change?

Skype helps connect people and promotes conversation. Both of these will help spread the word about climate change. We used Skype throughout the project with all of our collaborators who worked on the film from around the world.

What do you hope to achieve by making this video?

We hope to spread awareness and bring to light just how much of a serious issue climate change really is.

What advice would you give to viewers who might watch the video and are keen to make a difference? How can they positively affect climate change?

Talk about it.

It might seem like a simple thing, but the truth is that recycling and changing to electric cars won’t make a real change. The technology is available to have a clean and sustainable future – but only if the politicians that lead us decide to implement the right strategy. All that’s left for us to do is shout about it and make a true impact on the people who govern our country.

Just last week the pair took part in the People’s Climate March in London. The event coincided with the COP21 conference in Paris, where over 40,000 delegates from 195 countries met to discuss the future of our planet.
