Skype brings Turnpike Troubadours and their fans together

Even if you’re sitting front and center during a concert, there’s still a barrier between the fans and the band. That’s why we decided to bridge that barrier by helping give fans of Oklahoma’s Turnpike Troubadours an exclusive backstage experience.

While bringing some country twang to the Ones to Watch with Skype tour, the Turnpike Troubadours used Skype for Mobile to show some heartland hospitality. In a series of individual Skype video calls, they gave Skype Moment Makers an inside look into life on tour and how playing in big cities compares to the honky-tonks back home.

For Jennifer Logue of, chatting with the band on a Skype video call made it feel almost like they were in her living room. “I’m looking forward to their Philly show even more now.”

Music blogger Kimberly Baugh loved having such an up close experience with the emerging country-roots group. “I love the idea of Skype interviews with bands like Turnpike Troubadours. It’s much more personal than an e-mail or phone call. It’s also a great opportunity for musicians to interact with their fans on an exciting level,” said Baugh after the call.

When Moment Maker Katie Busch chatted with the Turnpike Troubadours on a video call, she immediately noticed the band’s laid-back style. “They’re so down to earth! I’m excited to check them out live in Philadelphia.”

In addition to face-to-face calls with fans, Skype is also giving Turnpike Troubadours listeners an exclusive look into the band’s inner circle. On a group video call with their mentors, family and friends, the Oklahoma red-dirt heroes talked about how they went from playing in small local venues to selling out amphitheaters with the people who helped them along the way.
