Skype 5.1 for iPhone: Bringing back more of the things you love

When we released the remastered Skype for iPhone last week, we didn’t take time off to celebrate. We listened to your feedback and immediately got to work addressing your comments. Today, Skype 5.1 for iPhone introduces some of the features you wanted most:

  • You can now delete a conversation from the recent list with a long press on recents. You can also edit messages you’ve recently sent with a long press on the message. (Just as you can long press on an individual message to delete it.)
  • Tap the “add favorites” link to easily fill your favorites screen with the people you contact the most.
  • The People list now matches the desktop better: we have added the “Skype” filter; the “online” filter now includes users set to online, away and do not disturb; and best of all your filter settings are saved.

We are hard at work addressing more of your feedback and introducing more features, but wanted to get these out to you as soon as possible.  Keep sharing your feedback in the Skype Community, and if you’ve not already downloaded the remastered Skype for iPhone, you can get the update from the Apple App Store – all you’ll need is iOS 7 or later.

  1. That was fast! :O

  2. It doesn’t work. I can’t delete messages even with a long press.

Hi there, the ability to delete messages ends after 60 minutes. This is standard across all Skype platforms. Best, Shana from Skype.

  3. Hi. It seems that we can’t pick up voice mail messages on Skype for iPhone. When are you bringing this back – it’s important, especially for those of with Skype no.s… Thanks

  4. What happened to seeing the time at the other person’s location? that made it easier to know when to call?
