Skype Delivers a New Solution for Broadcasters

Today, we’re excited to announce a new solution for broadcasters from Skype, available in the coming year. This improved offering is a result of Skype’s recent acquisition of our long-time broadcast partner Cat and Mouse. We’ve built on the existing Cat and Mouse technology to deliver a high quality hardware and software Skype integration direct into a studio environment.

Skype TX is studio grade software that delivers high quality audio and video output to seamlessly connect broadcast and media productions with people around the world.

Skype TX is part of the Skype in Media offering, which was created to inspire and enable a new generation of media moments. Now broadcasters can use the new Skype TX to develop new formats and creative concepts for live, video on demand and other digital content – creating even more engaging moments. The Skypeinmedia.com website showcases examples of how Skype has been used in media to enhance the broadcast experience. Here, broadcasters can also download brand assets to use in their productions. All of this combined with the launch of Skype TX, means we now offer a complete suite of tools for broadcasters to enrich the viewer’s experience.

  1. I will be interested to see the cost of using Skype tx and if there will be a version available for mac users. In a demo video it was clearly stated it runs on windows 8. I think for someone like me who is a content creator, and a podcaster this could be awesome. We’ll see. Fingers crossed.

Hi Ryan, here’s where you can get in touch with the team. Best, Shana from Skype.

    • It really looks like TX is a hardware+software package/appliance, not just a tailored software. Packaging it together is a good for the broadcast industry because they get a solid validated and supported package from the vendor.

  2. very good!
