Your New Year’s Resolution: Lose Weight. Our Resolution: Lose Wait
Today we are releasing version 4.17 of Skype for iOS. Our users have been asking us to support push notifications, and we’ve worked hard to deliver. With this version, all your chat messages will now be pushed to your iPhones and iPads using Apple’s push notification network. This means we can deliver your messages in a timely way which will then show up in your notification center and on your lock screen as expected. As long as you are signed into Skype, your private (1:1) chat messages will be delivered just like any other push notification. If you and your contacts use Skype for group chats, you’ll be glad to know we’re working hard to deliver those using Apple’s system as well.
In addition to delivering your messages using Apple’s push notifications, we’ve made the following improvements:
- Two way HD video calling is now supported on the iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina.
- Minor layout changes on both the iPhone and iPad.
- Removed the offline timer setting to improve the push notifications experience
