As a small business owner, you likely have a company website that markets your products or services to current and prospective customers. And you know how important it is that the site makes it easy for people to get in touch with you directly, so they can ask questions or even make purchases.
Skype buttons do just that – they make it a snap for customers to engage with small business owners online. Adding a Skype button to your website lets people connect with you via Skype with just one click. Whether they’re on a computer or mobile, they’ll get through with a voice call or an instant message.
Adding a Skype button on your site is quick and free. You simply visit the Skype Button Page and enter your Skype name, choose whether you want your button to initiate a call, IM chat or both, and select your button’s color and size. You’ll then receive a code snippet that you paste into the HTML pages where you want the button to live.
The Skype button will appear as a Skype icon with the word “call” or “chat” next to it (depending on your specifications). Anyone can click on it and, if they’re logged into their own Skype account, start communicating with you right away.
It’s that easy.
A couple of things to note: because people contacting you through a Skype button are unlikely to be in your Contacts list, you should configure your Skype client to accept calls and/or chats from “anyone”.
