Skype 6.2 for Mac with eGifting

Today we have released a new version of Skype for Mac.

New features and improvements in Skype 6.2 for Mac include:

  • eGifting: Skype users can now send a gift of credit to anyone they care about on their birthday
  • One-way SMS without verifying your mobile number

eGifting: Send a gift of credit to anyone on their birthday

When you get a birthday notification you can choose to gift someone with credit on their birthday. They can use the credit to call you or anyone they care about, at any time.


One-way SMS without verifying your mobile number

Now you can send one-way SMS without having to add and verify your mobile number.

Get or update to the latest version of Skype for Mac and leave us feedback by visiting our Support Network or by reporting issues on our public issue tracker.

Resolved issues:

Account Skype credit amount is now identical between Skype and account window
File transfer Progress bar will disappear after completion when downloading multiple files selectively
Preferences Skype quits normally with Audio/Video preferences open
Sign in/out Skype does not hang when signing out with Facebook account
Contact Messenger contacts will not be displayed in Skype contact group
Screen Sharing Free users attempting to screen share while sending video, can now screen share immediately after pressing ‘Continue with free call’ button in Premium Upsell window

Known issues:

Generic Crash can occur on login if user has non-Retina external display on Retina macbook
  1. Select Skype in Finder (Applications Folder)
  2. Select File > Get Info
  3. Check “Open in  Low Resolution”

Fix is in progress for next release

Sign in/out Crash occurs when login if “Call Recorder” software is installed Call Recorder users should update to the latest version to prevent Skype crashes

  1. I’d love to download the new Skype for Mac, but the idiot webmasters keep giving me WINDOWS binaries (.exe) when even the link says .DMG. Get it together, Microsoft, I know you guys can do better than this.

  2. what about linux ? you released 6.2 for Windows and Mac but skype for linux is version 4.1 and it has many bugs that you didn’t fix
