Introducing new Skype Cards in Mexico

Skype is always working towards more and more ways to bring people together whenever they are apart. At Skype today we are happy to introduce a new payment option for the Mexico market, Skype Cards.

Skype users in Mexico will now have all the benefits of Skype products at their fingertips, including Skype’s incredibly low rates on calls to family members and friends anywhere in the world.

According to the Central Bank of Mexico, the large majority of the Mexican community does not have credit cards, one of the main payment options required to purchase Skype products online. Now with Skype Cards, users are being offered another payment option. Skype Cards will be sold in two denominations: our $100 pesos card offers a monthly calling plan for unlimited calls to landlines and mobile phones in the USA, while our $150 pesos card provides a Skype Credit balance for calls to telephone numbers in over 170 countries paying per minute and any other Skype paid-for products such as group video calling2.

Skype Cards will be available at key local retailers including: El Palacio de Hierro, 7 Eleven, RadioShack and Best Buy among others. This way, Skype users can continue to make free Skype-to-Skype audio and video calls to anyone, anywhere in the world, whereas our Skype Cards give them access to unlimited monthly calling plans, low per-minute rates and services such as SMS messaging or group video calls that bring the whole family together on a group video call.

Visit one of your local participating retailers to purchase your Skype card. Go to the Skype Cards page for more details and a link to store locations and make sure to remind your family and friends about this great new product available in Mexico. With Skype talk all you want.

1 Telecom services available in Mexico are provided under the Telecom license of Skype’s partner MCM.

2 Group video calls can be between three or more people (up to a maximum of 10). For the best quality, we recommend calls with five people or fewer. A fair use policy applies to group video calling.
