World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar Surprises Fan with Skype Video Call
Here’s a pop-quiz: what do Skype and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have in common? While perhaps not a match made in heaven at first glance, we definitely have more similarities that you’d think. Skype has hundreds of millions of users worldwide; WWE has hundreds of millions of fans across the globe. Skype connects people with their friends and families through voice and video calling; WWE wrestlers connect with each other via suplexes and body slams.
Recently, one lucky WWE fan earned the opportunity of a lifetime and found out about it through Skype. WWE Studios, the movie production arm of the sports-entertainment company, held open auditions at WrestleMania 28 Axxess in Miami, FL for a small role in their upcoming movie, ‘The Marine: Homefront.’
Mason A. Norman, a WWE fan and a sergeant in the United States Army Reserve, first auditioned for the role during the open casting call with thousands of other hopefuls. Weeks later, WrestlingInc.com reported that “Norman was told he would be doing a follow-up interview” on a Skype video call, but instead was surprised by WWE Superstar and former MTV ‘Real World’ personality The Miz, who informed him that he had been selected for the role.
