Skype at Variety's 2011 Power of Women Event
For the past three years, Variety magazine, a leading publication for business entertainment news, has held Variety‘s Power of Women event. This event celebrates women in entertainment who have made noteworthy philanthropic and charitable contributions all over the world. Last week, in partnership with Lifetime Television, Variety held their third-annual event honoring renowned actresses Annette Bening, Eva Longoria, Lea Michele, Mary J. Blige, Olivia Wilde and DreamWorks Studios Partner and CEO Stacey Snider.
As Skype is quickly becoming a key component in the entertainment industry (see: Utilizing Skype to Change the News and Film Industries), we wanted to get involved with Variety‘s Power of Women event by showcasing the “power” of communications through Skype video calling. At the event, this was clearly demonstrated when Eva Longoria’s sister sent her sister a heartfelt congratulations from afar via Skype video call.
All attendees of the event also received a 3-month Skype Premium voucher, which will allow them to use Skype Group Video Calling and connect with up to 9 other people on a video call.
