Skype joins forces with TELUS to bring affordable international calling rates to customers in Canada
I’m happy to announce that we’ve signed an agreement with TELUS, Canada’s fastest* coast-to-coast 4G network, to bring Skype’s affordable international calling rates to customers across Canada.
We know that you want to take your Skype conversations with you on the go, and this agreement with TELUS will let you get the best possible Skype experience on your smartphone in Canada.
Stay tuned for more information about the great products we’ll bring to Canadians with TELUS this summer. You can subscribe to this blog using the links on the right hand side, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook.

What this article fails to mention is that you have to buy a certain phone to use skype on telus. They are basically using skype name to sell hardware. Looks like the days of free skype on mobile are over as you now need specific phones to use it. I know if I was on Verizon in USA I can download skype on my blackberry 8530 so there is absolutely no reason it wont work on my telus 8530. Here Telus just wants to sell hardware and contracts to new customers and couldn’t care less about current customers. Can anyone give a good reason why the blackberry app is only locked to Verizon.
