Hi,
I’m one of those users who have been affected by the same issue. I have tried installing the hot fix Skype version from the link provided on this website, but I’m facing the same problems. The connection is not being proceeded despite putting in the correct password. Before the issue, I had been using Skype version 5.0 which has always worked fine on my current system and settings.
I need to find out about the most compatible version for my Windows. Or is there any other way of resolving the issue. Please help!
Zayra.
Hello to all,
I have to report that two blind friends told us in Skypeenglish mailing list that the update did not fix the problem. One of them at least had to downgrade to Skype 5.1.
Bye!
I had the same issue with v5 on Windows 7. I just recognized, that I started Skype in Compatibility mode (Vista SP2) which seems to crash Skype on my PC.
Starting Skype in compatibility mode was a common workaround in v4 to make Skype minimize to Tray on Windows 7, so I expect I’m not the only one who experiences this issue.
With v5 this seems to make the application crash. When I disable the compatibility mode, Skype starts as expected without any issue.
To check if you have enabled the compatibility mode, right click on your Skype icon, click on Properties and then on Compatibility tab. If you have activated the compatibility mode, just deselect the checkbox, click OK and retry to start Skype.
