Skype 5.2 for Windows
We have just released Skype 5.2 for Windows.
This release contains feature improvements and user experience enhancements. Start downloading it and continue reading.
Main changes:
- Modified call phones dialog with integrated contact number search
- New presence-aware call button, including a drop-down of associated contact numbers
- Modified presence icons, to better indicate a contact’s availability status
- Improved call handling when you run out of credit
- New simple button to share files and contacts
- Improvements to help you find active calls
- New look for the contact profile area

5.2 does not work with my Vista and Linksys CIT300 system – Please help!
I hate this verizon of skype. They need to give me back the 4.2 ASAP. I only use skype to talk to my boyfriend in Argentina and since he has the old verision on his iPod and can’t update we can’t talk at all. Give me 4.2 back now!

How come, when I click on “check for new version” in my skype 5.1, I get the message “you already have the newest version”?

After upgrade from 5.2 beta to 5.2.0.113, my skype silently crash again and again. dont found any event log from MS Windows event viewer.

I am using Win XP and I have an permanetly DirectX-Problem with my web-Cam and Skype. DirectX v9.0c is installed and the videoproblems are only with Skype. Now i ve downgradet Skype to version 4 and i have no problems anymore with my web-cam and skype.
I think: A newer version of Skype is bad, when it does not work.
lucvanland,I made Skype aware of the issue with older clients not recignizing 5.2 when the “check for update” function is used a few weeks ago. We are working hard to figure out why this is but in the meantime you can download it from the site manually.
jichen3rd, try installing Skype 5.2.60.113 and see if that fixes anything. it could be a glitched install. Not sure what could be the problem but its a thought.
caseykcoleman, why can’t your boyfriend update his skype client on his ipod? I’m a little confused as to why you think this is an issue of 5.2. Unless you’ve had issues with other contacts it could equally be an issue on his end. Or do you mean the skype client for Verizon phones?
