Announcing our Mobile Partner Program for operators
As Mobile World Congress opens here in Barcelona, we’re pleased to announce our Mobile Partner Program for operators in markets with low 3G broadband penetration. The program aims to bring the Skype experience to over 100 different mobile phones and will enable mobile operators to provide additional benefits to customers like you in a competitive market environment.
This program follows the successful operator partnerships that we’ve already launched with Verizon, KDDI and Hutchison 3, and adopts a simplified model which can be rolled out quickly and easily.
The program utilises a purpose built client/server solution developed specifically for mobile operators, which allows the distribution of Skype on a broad range of handsets, including what we call ‘feature phones’ as well as smartphones. The versions of Skype delivered through this program are optimised for efficient bandwidth usage, keeping you connected with minimal impact on battery life and data usage.

Are there are partners in Canada that involved in this partnership? Much of Canada has good 3G coverage, but it would be very nice to have less impact on data usage & batter life.
