I am a military wife and we are stationed out in Japan. Far away from family and far far away from my husband while he is deployed. I just recently got skype and so far it has been a blessing. I have been able to contact friends and family in the states, shown them how big my son is getting. I look forward to be able to use it with my husband for his up coming deployment. We will not see him in person for almost a year. Thank you Skype for making this a little easier!

Skype has made the job of military spouses around the world infinitely better. When spouses are deployed to war zones or away on temporary duty they no loner have to miss first steps, birthdays, or anniversaries. When military families are forced to live thousands of miles away from parents and grandparents, they no longer have to miss Christmases or their grand babies first words. Thanks to skype, even though my husband and I currently live in Japan while our families are living in Ohio, we feel connected to them in ways previously not possible. For that, this Army wife thanks you!

I am also a military wife. My husband just got stationed in Germany so we moved here from Pennsylvania recently. This is our first base and first time either one of us have really been far, far away from all friends and family for a long period of time. We will be here for the next three years. Skype has made our lives easier because its so nice to be able to keep in touch with our friends and families this way. What a blessing Skype is to have! We got all of our parents and friends to download it and use it often! We are also expecting our first baby in March, and my mother unfortunately will not be able to make it out here to Germany to see the birth, which just breaks her heart, it is her first grandchild, but the airline tickets to get over here are outrageous and my mom just can’t afford it. So I am going to take my laptop and turn on Skype when I go into labor that way it will almost feel as if she is right here with us whenever her first grandbaby is born. If it wasn’t for Skype I probably wouldn’t be able to talk to my mom whenever I do go in labor because we only have unlimited calling to the U.S. from our home phone, our cell phones are pre-paid and would be outrageous to call back home for even one minute of talking. And here at the German hospitals you have to pay to have a phone in your room to make calls and even to receive calls. So we are very thankful to have Skype in our lives!!! We also had to leave back some of our animals because we couldn’t bring them here to Germany with us, so they are with my husbands mother, and its nice to be able to SEE our animals everytime we get on Skype with her. GO SKYPE!! Thank you!!!

Another army wife here! When my husband was in Afghanistan he’d have a 15 minute phone card once a week which was rubbish, but with Skype we could speak to him nearly every day and now and again comms were even good enough to get Skype video too! We cherished those times. The kids could see Daddy and it did him the world of good to see we were all ok, too. Thanks Skype, you really made a huge difference to our quality of life.

I’m not sure about making my life easier, but it makes my long distance relationship possible. I’m not sure how I would be able to manage without my daily Skypes before bed. Thanks for making my relationship possible and keeping your program up and running.

Skype is a must tool for studying in university! I have a skype chatroom with my coursemates and we share a lot of useful information there starting with the latest exam topics and ending with video conferences, where someone, who is familiar with a certain topic can teach others, who are not so good at it. I and some of my friends are even planning to buy a whiteboard into our houses, with what we could make better video conferences and by that get better results in classes. Definitely a very useful tool! Thumbs up!

I’m 19, and live in Madison, Wisconsin. My girlfriend is also 19, and lives in Rosario, Argentina, a distance of around 6,000 miles. We got to know each other online sometime in 2008, and started talking regularly in early 2009. After a couple of months, we realized we were absolutely crazy about each other, and decided to officially start our relationship. I’ve since been to visit her three times, and she’s coming here this summer for the first time, to meet my friends and family. Skype has been absolutely essential to us, and it’s allowed us to endure the distance these past two years. Thanks to Skype, we can talk face-to-face every day, we watch movies and listen to music together, and we can make the 6,000 miles seem a little less daunting. So thank you to everyone at Skype, because we owe you a lot

My father at 98 years, Skyped daily from a Nursing home in Tucson, Az with his daughters in Orange County and San Francisco, CA. Without Skype, he would have missed that visual contact that greatly enhanced his quality of life during his last days before he passed away. He was able to share views of San Francisco Bay Bridge, sing nursery rhymes he remembered to his grandchildren and communicate with distant relatives until we could all gather in Tucson with him. Skype is the next BEST thing to being there in person. I am forever grateful to Skype for helping make my father’s last days pleasant.

My mother and father divorced, and my dad’s job forced him to move to columbus. However, he was only two hours away, so my mom and step dad were able to drive me to his house every other weekend. When his job moved him further, to london, we only saw him about twice or three times a year. Eventually he got remarried, and I had a baby brother. For once, I was so excited about having a little baby in my arms. For a year after that, I visited much more often. But after that, the visits again faded away. But then, on my birthday, I got a logitech quiccam! At first I didn’t know what to do with it. But then, I. Found skype. I told my dad to get a quickcam, and before I knew it, I was “visiting” london every day! It was great to watch my little brother grow like a weed. We even played checkers and watched movies over skype! A few years later, when my brother was three, my dad and step mom divorced again, and my step mother moved to washington DC taking

I sometimes use Skype in my real estate profession to show clients with mobility impairments homes they might be interested in via my iPhone. I try to implement technology as much as I can in my business and skype is a powerful tool in my arsenal. I use it in my personal life as well as my girlfriend is working in San Francisco and only is able to come home a few times a year. I use skype only a daily basis and I can’t think of life without it. Great program guys, you bring the world together!

Skype is making my life “easier” by using it to talk to my boyfriend who lives in America; I’m Italian and we are in a long distance relationship since two years (almost).
We talk on skype everyday, so we can see each other, even if we are 5000 miles apart; I don’t know what I would do without skype!
IT IS REALLY HELPFUL when your loved ones live so far away.

My nest emptied all at once. I have triplet sons and they all left at the same time. Fortunately they are all attending the same college (Virginia Tech.. Go Hokies!) and we use Skype to stay in touch! Love, Love, Love Skype! Empty nests are for the BIRDS, but thanks to Skype, I can still see that they’re doing fine!

I have moved out of Sweden to Estonia since four years. My family are all gathered within the same area in Sweden, so when my dad suddenly fell ill and had to cancel their visit to Estonia, my Christmas felt very very lonely. Thanks to Skype I could still be in the room when santa claus came to distribute all the Christmas presents: http://twitpic.com/3itqwh

My husband travels internationally for work and we will usually just chat on facebook as he is not gone for long periods of time. Recently, he was sent to China and little did we know that facebook, youtube, and twitter are all blocked in China. We installed Skype on our cell phones and when he has access to wifi he can call me on my cell phone if I am away from my computer. It would be extremely difficult to ever talk to him, especially with the time difference, were it not for skype. Amazing service. Love it..
