Skype 5.0 for Windows update
We have just released an update for Skype 5.0 for Windows.
With this update we aim to fix issues found in Skype 5.0 following the initial release. We’d like to thank all of you for your feedback.

In the original Skype 5.0 for Windows release the FaceVsion Touchcam N1 and Freetalk Everyman Webcam did not work properly in HD video mode. We have fixed the issue with this update, but the camera owners will need to upgrade their camera firmware too. You can find instructions from the camera manufacturers websites, check here for Freetalk and FaceVsion.
We recommend that everyone upgrades to the latest version of Skype. Start download now.

I have downloaded Skype 5.0. Noticed that the Directory search for individuals is no longer available only for business can be used. How can I get this feature back?

Ringtone sounds are almost always choppy. Occasionally even the voice call sound is choppy, though this is rare
It usually crashes during screen sharing after 5-10 minutes.
what is the meaning of skype 5.0 is a trail?
this means after 30 day will be off?

Szhorvat please report this on our public issue tracked with Skype logfiles. This is not a general issue as I know, but sounds more like something specific to your system. We would like to check it out.
Raghda_salah Group Video Calling feature is in beta state and usable via trial in Skype 5.0 for Windows.
I am having major dificulties with skype, I have credited my account three times and each call while using skype, the connection was terrible. The call was a total waste of my money, when talking the receiver could not hear me and I was fadeing in and out, missing the entire converstion because I could not hear them either. My headphones and mic are new. A waiste of my money!
The next day after using skype, another issue with skype, skype will not launch from any of my icons on my computer now. I tried several time by uninstalling and reinstalling but skype still will not launch. I have no problems with my computer memory or power. After troubleshooting, I am still unable to launch skype. A waste of time and money.
I would appreciate help with launching skype and credit to my account for the extreme poor phone calls.
We’ve been having an issue where we would get a btstack error every 6 seconds or so while Skype was on. If we turned Skype off this error would go away everytime and then come back when Skype was turned back on. Any chance of fixing that in upcoming updates? The error causes the mouse pointer or mouse focus to turn active windows on and off, stopping things like typing or reading longer e-mails and reports nearly impossible if not extremely frustrating.
I`ve download skype 5.0 and i can not find anymore screen sharing function! If in this version there isn`t screen sharing how i can go back to the old one?
the new version skype 5.0 downloaded (probably without success) in my computer and since 13 december I can not share the camera, i.e. my collegue can watch me, though I can not see her. please comment on this problem
What about the “video renderer and direct X bug”? Did that get fixed? I have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 and the latest drivers and Direct X, yet I’m doomed to use Skype 4.2 until this issue gets fixed.
Skype 5 according to Skype does not have the search facility where you enter name,city and country.What a shame and why is it missing.Is it for security reasons. If so why do they say when lai=unching a new version what is omitted.
Yesterday Nov 14 windows update kickes in (I have Vista). After reboot Skype crashes. Uninstalling skype, uninstalling windows updates does not help.
After my PC updated to 5.0, now the Skymate does not Call Out anymore.
Snce I updated to SKYPE 5 I cannot see any video.My screen black out. Although my video is still seen by the other party. Is my computer not up to date for SKYPE 5??

Hi there, any chance there’s an update in the works that will fully separate the pop-out video window from the chat window? Right now even when it pops out, the chat window is still left with a huge empty space where the video was, and this empty space can’t be closed or collapsed. Really annoying when trying to Skype on a netbook.

Hi, I just downloaded skype 5.0 for windows XP & was just wondering why I can’t group call? I could still have a one on one video conversation but can’t do a three group or four group call etc… & my friends also have skype 5.0 & windows but I still can’t group call… yet they can group call each other… whenever my friends try to do a video call with me all of our webcams just either freeze or turn off completely… is there anyway on how I could fix this problem? if so can you please tell me thank you
my problem with skype is the sign in window has saved all the people who used the skype on my computer and theres no way i can delete it. eventhough i tried to delete the program and re install it still the sign in names are save in the log in window. hope theres a way i can clean it up, thank u.
i just recently downloaded this new version. and everytime my husband in iraq has a connection issue and gets kicked offline, my skype keeps trying to auto call him back, then it freezes and crashes and sometime to a blue screen. it has happened every single time and theres doesnt seem to be an option to turn off the auto call back nor the loud sound set for auto call back. id appreciate if i could download an older version since the pc is the ONLY way to have contact with my deployed husband in iraq. and id apperciate if skype didnt keep crashing my pc many times a day. or id rather pay money to get the same video calling for free here if it meant they would be crashing my pc.

Currently have version 4.2 downloaded when I got my netbook with Windows 7 Starter. Can 5.0 run on Win 7 Starter?
It doesn’t work. I’ve installed this. But it collapses as soon as I want to make it ran. Uninstall/install doesn’t solve the problem. Since there is no possibility to install a previous version, now I can’t use skype

Second the comment about removing the video window from the chat window. A huge waste of space for those that don’t use video. At least make the video section collapsible.

What happens after the 28days trial ? Are we going to be charged ? How much ?
Skype crashed completely once the new release was installed. (It had only crashed occasionally when trying to make calls before. I used it only for long distance and an incoming line, so don’t know how it was for video.) After literally hours and hours of following impossibly techie instructions (for me – a modestly proficient user) and being relentlessly told that it was a problem with my machine, I uninstalled the whole thing and switched to Google Voice. All the features of Skype and more, and it’s totally free. I wouldn’t trust the latest ‘update’ of Skype, nor do I have any faith in their tech support. Glad I’m done with them.
I bought webcams for my kids and my parents for Xmas so we could all skype with the grandkids. I’m trying to install skype for the first time on my mom’s windows 7 machine. It downloads ok but during install it keeps starting over. It gets to anywhere between 7% and 42% complete then starts over. Please help.
Since installing this new version, my computer keeps freezing…is there a way to get back my older version?

My video stopped working. I found that Skype 5 had autoinstalled. I uninstalled it and installed Skype 4 and the video started working again. The video stopped working again, I found that Skype 5 had autoinstalled yet again. I reinstalled Skype 4 and changed the settings to stop the autoinstall feature. The video is working again. I will avoid Skype until one can be sure that it works reliably.
Skype 5 is giving me major problems. I run Vista on a Toshiba laptop. Skype is absolutely mutilating my ram, getting from about 80,000 to 150,000. Video call is getting worse, becoming blurry and blocky even with good connection between us. I know skype ate a lot of memory in earlier versions but this is getting ridiculous that it’s eating my computer.
in the latest versino 5.00.156 i am having an issue with incoming skype-to-skype messages which do not come in realtime .. some take several minutes.. and the other user thinks I am away from my computer even though my computer is either in skype (away) or skype (online) mode. Please provide me with a link to download the prior version of skype AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.. Thanks ..
i have a question about what do u do when u skype ppl out of australia do we have to have credit and how much is it thank u mabarker52
