    Hi,

Why aren’t Ireland on this list. Most of the civilised world acknowledges that we were cheated out the world cup by a double hand ball. An then to top it off the French didn’t even put in a decent performance.

Please put Ireland on your list!

I’m a bit surprised that you can’t make a video call on your HP netbook (mini 210). I can do it from my older HP mini 311 that has 2G of memory and a much wimpier Atom 270 (single core, dual threaded). Skype gives me a “yellow” status in most cases but it works. That said, I’ve found other voice/video conference services that seem to work better in some circumstances. I’d try testing it by direct ethernet cabling to your local router if you can. You can at least take that part of out of the equation. Also, try it without running dual display (if you are). Finally, I found problems with the HP driver for the Nvidia ION-LE in System 7 and ended up using a desktop version pulled from the Nvidia website and modified for a mobile platform. Good luck!

  11. cybosk said 1063 days ago

@rissiepit: You have to activate free calls package prior to your call. It is not activated automatically.

  12. anna.li10 said 1063 days ago

Sorry to disappoint you snobs with those Crappo celeron and semipooohpooh processors but I have a MSI WIND 100 with n270 processor and I have had hundreds of video charts with both skype 4 and now with skype 5 beta. Haven’t tried the conference chat though but don’t really need it,. Just another small note for you whiners out there about free not free. SKYPE REVOLUTIONIZED THE WORLD OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS I REMEMBER WHEN CALLING EUROPE WAS $10/3MINUTES GEE WHIZ!!! STOP COMPLAINING !NOT TO MENTION THE CONVENIENCE OF ALL THE SKYPE PHONES AND ACCESSORIES GATEWAYS ETC THAT ARE AVAILABLE TODAY AND YOU COMPLAIN . HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED A COW IN THE EYE?? SOME PEOPLE ARE DUMBER THAT THAT!!! WAIT , NOW SKYPE HAVE RELEASED THEIR SDK TO THE WORLD YOU WILL SOON HAVE SKYPE ON EVERY PHONE, REFRIGERATOR BUILT IN TO TV’S RADIOS AND WHO KNOW WHAT AND ALL THAT WILL BE FREE AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING?? GO EAT GRASS , ITS GOOD FOR YOU AND WE WILL ENJOY SKYPE HERE IN THE NORMAL HUMAN WORLD.

    ALL POWER TO SKYPE

  17. gershon_schwartz said 1062 days ago

Almost forgot, n45o has on chip graphics(part) and this may be interfering with skype, I would ask around and see if others have this problem as I have a slower processor and now problem. Willing to bet you its a problem in the chip, why don’t you write Intel , they are very good about answering these problems especially if it will impact their sales. Write I am sure that they will answer. Skype can’t answer because this (hardware problems) isn’t their field of expertise , they deal only with the software (basically).

Are we allowed 120 minutes to Nigeria (as stated above – ◦120 minutes free calls to landlines in Nigeria for a month) or 60 minutes?

I got 60 minutes of calls per month to landlines in Nigeria when I signed up.

  19. cruzdehuanacaxtle said 1062 days ago

to jillbogie with the atom cpu, try GOOGLE TALK, it´s a lot lighter program( doesn´t use up hardly any RAM) than skype and works in conjunction with any gmail account, it´s free, the only limitation is you can´t call a landline or cell phone, it also has a better call or sound quality than skype and free voice mail that get´s delivered right to your inbox

  20. cruzdehuanacaxtle said 1062 days ago

to gershon_schwartz, read the GUIDELINES, here a prtion that I copied and pasted for you, specifically the part about CAPS LOCK( upper case), no need to “raise your voice” and “yell at people”, take a chill pill dude

    Be clear and on topic
•Try to write your comment in the original language of the blog.

    •Try to be concise.

    •Don’t write in CAPS LOCK.

•Keep comments relevant to the post.

Hmmmm….why is Skype suddenly offering free calls?????? That’s right, Google Voice came out of beta and went public recently, didn’t it?

  22. cruzdehuanacaxtle said 1061 days ago

right on blr49, Google Talk rules, doesn´t need hardly any RAM either and much less complicated, Skype spies and transmits way to much information about you unless you go into the settings and deactivate all that crap, I´ve been using Google Talk for a almost a year and there´s nothing deceptive, it´s FREE as in no charge, not as in 4.99, since when has the definition of FREE changed, did I miss something? Is FREE now 4.99?

  23. cruzdehuanacaxtle said 1061 days ago

Why do need my Credit Card for something that is allegedly FREE?????????? Why Can´t I use PAYSAFE as I use for purchasing regular Skype credit?

You already offer PaySafe as a payment method, why limit it to only purchasing regular Skype Credit?

Also, FREE for most people is as in NO CHARGE, something for nothing,
the proper wording should be UNLIMITED CALLS for only 4.99 because there is nothing FREE,

Free calls to the USA, Mexico and many more countries for a month??

I perceive this as an unfair Business tactic as there are many people who don´t like Big Brother watching and prefer to avoid entering personal information like a Credit Card #. If you ( whomever I am writing to) ever check the comments in the corresponding section.

There are other Users not very content with this deceptive offer.

Free calls to the USA, Mexico and many more countries for a month. Since when has the definition of FREE changed to something for nothing to 4.99/mo

  24. woopeea said 1061 days ago

I use Unlimited Europe plan. Can I still use this special offer?

  25. peterparkes said 1053 days ago

@timthevries @cruzdehuanacaxtle we need to take payment details – you get free calls for a month, and then after that, our normal charges apply. Hope that clears things up!

  26. emil.hemdal said 1052 days ago

Can’t there be unlimited package for India

  30. praneet.rai said 1042 days ago

Why isn’t there unlimited calls to India.
while mediatring has such subscription but its fair usage policy makes its quite not into budget looking into the fact
that call are about 20-30paise per minute to India
    100 paise= 1 Rupee.
check the dollar and rupee rate at xe.com

  31. swedeman7 said 1041 days ago

Signed up for free phone calls and got an oops message that not eligible – even though I have never taken advantage of this offer. I wish that Skype did not use these misleading promotions. As with the others posters comments – beware! – there offers are bogus!

  32. peterparkes said 1038 days ago

@swedeman7 sorry about that – the promotion has ended now. I’ve updated the blog post with a note.

How about Colombia? I was using the Unlimited calling to Colombia and everything was going well apparently until Skype just did not accept my card information to pay.I tried more than 5 times. This is a clever and rude way to get rid of plains. It makes it look like MY fault. Too bad.
