Thank you for adding support for SE devices. I use skype on my Vivaz and I can say it is performing well as a whole. There are some little issues, of course – it delays very much when loading skype contacts and history. You can try to add an option for the users to choose whether they want to load history or not(as it loads every time you start an IM now). The other thing is that sometimes there is no notification about which connections is being used-Wi-Fi or 3G.
Do you plan to add video calls option to the new skype for symbian? Thank you and keep the good job.

I did install on Nokia N95 but the telephone said no compatible with the phone
and could not start the program

  3. kivistolintila said 1071 days ago

Doesn´t install on Nokia 5630 xm, unidentified device error… The previous version works fine, just like reported in thread about phones not in combatibility list but still working

  4. fjh_11 said 1069 days ago

Why isn’t Nokia 6710 Navigator officially supported? I have Skype installed on mine since the previous version, and it works fine. But I can’t download it from skype.com/m neither from Ovi Store, the only way to install is via computer.

hi, i installed the new skype4symbian at my nokia 5800. after installing and login and it worked. after the logout of this 1st login it is not possible to login anymore. the login procedure stops in the middle … i tried it more then three times …

Hi, installed on my E63 today, my mobile provider is offering 3G and EDGE. 3G coverage is rather poor, and with skype 1.0 is was unable to make calls on EDGE. With the 1.1 release it works great even on EDGE. Thank Skype for this major improvement. I’ve been waiting for this a long time. Also the battery life is improved dramaticly, tnx for that. Keep up the good work!

I’ve been wondering why Samsung Omnia HD which is launched a year ago isn’t on the list, but SE Vivaz is…?

  8. alexstone said 1067 days ago

I’ve just tried to install on my n86, which I already have the 0.9 version on, and I’m told the phone is not supported and skype won’t install.

    Hi all
I did reinstall the old beta again on the phone that works.
But the i tried something , I did download the new direct on the phone from skype and installed it on my Nokia N95 and it works perfectly.
So try that instead then loading it from a computer.
http://www.skype.com/m and it starts installing after download.

    Hi
Yes, it would be fine to make a video call with Skype for Symbian to. Do you plan to develop Skype software for newer Symbian, as Symbian^3 or new S40 platform? For other platform, as Android? Thanks

  11. somniens said 1064 days ago

i got an Nokia e63, and was estactic when i could use to it call some families. however, this newer version says its incompatiable with my phone, and it won’t load.

I originally had no intention to update this too, but the pervious versoin 1.0 stopped signing me in :/

  12. alfredoferes said 1063 days ago

I downloaded new version (14/06) to a N95 8g but some icons showed grey instead of colored ones like the old version.
Plus some features are missing, such as “about Skype”.
When will a new version be available?

  13. guillermolococo said 1062 days ago

Why Fring support video call over Skype and the official client doesn’t ?

  14. rykel98 said 1059 days ago

Thank you so much for Skype for Symbian 1.1!

For once, I feel good using Symbian vs. iPhone. (what happened to the Android guys?? Can you kindly give them a Skype client too??)

I generally like 1.1 more than the previous version, and in just 2 versions, Skype for Symbian has indeed improved a LOT! (esp. the battery life, QoS over 3G, size/looks of the icons, new and refreshing keypad assignments [eg. able to now use End Call to, well, end calls], sign-in time etc.)

Problems that exists now or still remains are:
    – More frequent “sudden” crashes. (either Skype or phone reboots)
    – End Call key can now be used to end Skype calls (GREAT!) but when we are on a call, the screen usually dims and pressing End Call brings the backlight back to the screen, and then straight to the Main Active Screen – and leaves the Skype call running in the background! (PLEASE FIX THIS)
    – Skype Symbian does NOT load ALL online contacts, only random ones. Unlike the desktop Skype, which loads a whole list of online contacts. (PLEASE FIX THIS)

I am using Nokia E63 with the latest firmware for Singapore.

Hi I have a Nokia 5800 phone with Skype 1.1, WiFi calls are good, but 3G is terrible, the voice is distorted and not understand anything, Why Nimbuzz and Fring calls with Skype account are great in WiFi and perfect in 3G?, I want to use the skype app, but with 3G it is impossible.

  16. zoren111 said 1044 days ago

    NOKIA 5800
The program is full of bugs and shortcomings… AGAIN :(((
Just a few to start with:

    1) Phone address book does NOT work from “calling phones” menu. It shows: “Contact has no phone numbers”. Thus, unless you allow phone contacts to be shown in the main contact list you can’t call them.
    2) It can NOT recognize a phone number (always call to skype to skype) in a skype contact information . Even previous version for symbian could do this !!!

    3) Is it too difficult to make use of light sensor? When I make a normal call or use Fringe it switches phones screen off and on (when my ear is close to the phone).
    4) Is the usage of front camera for video calls is out of the question?
    5) SILK codec… Does it ring a bell?

    P.S Very disappointed user

    Nokia 6120c (B05.04) v03.83 rm-243
Skype_S60_5_0_v_1_1_0_7.sis is not working. Install even says “incompatible”, and although I installed it did not even start
Skype_S60_3_0_v_1_1_0.sis did work. I got form here http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-symbian-s60v3 but although I here well, other party losses whole words from my speech.

  18. csaba.imre said 1042 days ago

I don’t know what has happened. I have installed the latest skype symbian to my Nokia 5800. That is seemed to be okay in the first days. And later the network part is completely gone. Signing into the Skype network seems to be okay, and then unable to load my contact, and after not even make or receive calls. Chat part is also dumb. The most surprising thing, it works fine with my daughter account. I have subscription to call landline phones, so I don’t want to make an other skype account to myself.

  19. csaba.imre said 1042 days ago

My Nokia 5800 firmware is: 50.0.005.C03.01
The installed skype version: Skype_S60_5_0_v_1_1_0_7.sis downloaded from the skype official site. I tried to remove and reinstall few times, but it did not help. I always installed into the external card, which is quite fast. Maybe a hidden config file damaged in the phone memory….? I used the “Fring” before which is worked fine until they removed the skype support.

I got an N95 8GB with the latest firmware. I just installed the latest version of skype. But I can’t sign in. I’ve never used skype on phone before. I enter the username and password, it attempts to sign in, but returns to the sign in page with no reports or anything … help!!!!!!!!

  24. ilia.sotnikov said 1026 days ago

Tried to download and install Skype for Symbian 1.1 on Nokia E75 – fail.
When I attempt to run Skype_S60_3_0_v_1_1_0.sis, it prompts to confirm and then just nothing happens. No errors, but nothing is installed. Looks like a crash?
Latest SW update, running ver. 211.12.01
    Any feedback welcome!

Nokia E63…When in a voice Skype call, an incoming text IM will terminate the call. Big problem. I have had several calls terminated by such incoming messages with no warning.

  27. cmhdphughes said 1020 days ago

Nokia E63– When using the phone while also logged in via computer, the Skype status of the E63 will override the other status. I would like to set the phone to “invisible” without affecting the computer status. This is possible with other multiple computer logins on Skype.

  28. nikola-sky said 1019 days ago

    Small question: Does it works through a proxy?? I`’ve a n97 mini.Thanks

  29. cmhdphughes said 1019 days ago

Nokia E63—Also noticed that when the notification of a new instant message is present on the screen, new incoming calls will NOT ring the phone. Thus if someone IMs me and then calls the phone will not ring. The phone will ring only after I acknowledge the IM notification. This is a deal breaker. I don’t know about proxys. E63 is connected to my home wifi router and I have initiated no proxys. Talk about Fring damaging the Skype brand…this will do it no good.

Any plan for Nokia E61 device support?

  31. amana.waheed802 said 1018 days ago

Skype does not work on N97 mini.

  32. gogo_wien said 1017 days ago

bruhaha … and some nerd on their hotline responded to me that they don’t list Nokia E55 as supported because it is “not compatible” and they can’t guarantee flawless operation (I asked why E52 is supported while E55 isn’t, when it’s basically the same phone). Looks like their SW isn’t even compatible with supported devices and they don’t even get close to guarantee flawless operation on them…

  33. cenda.zlin said 1003 days ago

    Hello , good work.
Can you make a version for E65 ?
So can i make a wideocals thru wifi . I has been suported by other mobile comunication SW , but this support was stoped .

  34. teleboxx said 1001 days ago

When we will have some Skype application for Samsung Symbian phones?? Since Skype parte dfrom Fring, and Nimbuzz that doesn’t support Samsung Symbian handsets ” because of voice drivers pecularities” there is no application that allows to use Skyupe voice features on Samsung Symbian phone.

for E 52- working well done

  36. robsailson said 995 days ago

Great advance to have Skype on Symbian. I would suggest that the ability to limit connectivity to just Wireless connections would be a bonus for those of us who travel abroad a great deal.

Can only make a call with speaker activated on my Nokia N97 mini. Handset nor bluetooth headset do not work. Have symbian version 1.1.0.7

  39. demiralp.tamer said 915 days ago

It seems that Skype is functioning on Nokia E52. Nokia E55 is the same phone with the same operating system and only with a different keyboard. Why does it not work with E55? Is it planned to make Skype available for E55? Before looking for other solutions such as Nimbuzz or Fring I would be very happy if you could give a feedback on this issue.
