Our new subscriptions
What do you do when you want to speak to someone abroad who’s not on Skype? Picking up the phone could cost you an arm and a leg – but don’t fear, Skype could be just what you need.
With our brand new subscriptions you can call regular phones in one of more than 170 countries around the world, from as little as €0.89/£0.69/$1.09 per month. Perfect for speaking to Grandma in Mumbai or catching up with your friends in New Zealand.
With a subscription, you can call landlines or mobiles, and you can pick a number of minutes (from 60 to unlimited) and length of subscription (from 1 to 12 months) to suit you. You’ll also save up to 60% on our normal rates.
There’s no commitment – you can pay for 1, 3 or 12 months in advance, and you can cancel at any time.
For those of you who already have a subscription, here’s what’s new: We’ve added loads more countries, and added mobiles to the mix. You can also have a subscription to more than one country at once, which is great for those of you who call Venezuela and Botswana.
Head over to our new subscriptions page and check them out now.
* €1.02/£0.79/$1.20 including VAT where applicable.

is it just me.. or something stinks in here……
i payed 3 cents or so a minute to call lima peru. Now it’s telling me to buy a subscription to get what i payed otherwise i would have to pay 7…. thats a buncha BS
Thank gawd there’s google voice, I ain’t wasting my money on skype anymore.
With pay-as-you-go, calls to Lima are 3¢ US per minute, whereas calls to the rest of Peru are 7.9¢ US per minute – hope that clears things up!
Why have you made it more expensive. I call Thailand in 3 month advance and now this has been withdrawl and can’t do it any more. I paid ~150 SEK and could talk for 6 hr a day.
What happens with the days left, 60 min or 6 hr?
Does this mean that other subscriptions plans as in –> Unlimited Europe are terminated? It is still showing on my Account settings and the new plans are not…
Got it … though Unlimited Europe still does not include mobiles…
Don’t see any news changes in my worldwide plan. I must be missing something here
The links on this post just send you to the old subscriptions page. Could you tell me where I can see your new plans, because I’m excited about them! Thanks!
it was posted in the news and on this blog that the new subscription plan would cover 170 countries, until this time, it only shows 40 countries as before. when are you gonna update the list of the 170 countries?
We would like to have more affordable rates on international calls, I think is very expensive to call some countries. I spent money making calls from skype, but I think I am going to return to calling-cards very soon. Please, don’t forget that many people doesn’t have access to internet, specialy in Latin-american, and the users of skype have to call landlines to people don’t have internet.
Ok This is how it is for us in sweden:
Skype needs to do a mayor update on the list of landline-phonenumbers i cant call the otherwise FREEOFCHARGE numbers starting at 020, 0771, and the nowadays normal but old (has been a mobile-starting-number back when NMT ruled now its GSM) landline nuber-serie. This is really stupid, i cant call in sick i cant reach operators in many swedish companies (växel – på svenska) fix this or you wont be able to reach the swedish private market.
Forgot to tell you wich numberserieit was:
and the nowadays normal but old (has been a mobile-starting-number back when NMT ruled now its GSM) landline nuber-serie strting at 010,
@deeowdeeoh to clarify: we offer subscriptions to 170 countries – there isn’t a single subscription which covers all of them, however.
Too expensive for Thailand as €4,99/60min/month. Since we can use local voip which has rate only as €1.19/300min/month (Both landlines and mobiles). How about the unlimited call to Thailnand? Why do you cancel this plan for Thailand?
i noticed that Bulgaria is no longer avaliable for a monthly subscription how come? and can it still be subscribed to?
apparently my previous comments were removed because I did not adhere to skype’s guidelines, so here’s putting it in a more subtle way.
Skype has introduced their new subscription plans, which is supposedly more affordable.
What I have discovered is that their US and Canada Unlimited Subscription has gone up by 230%. Yes, that much. My previous unlimited subscription to US and Canada was $2.95 a month, now it’s $6.99 a month. I have emailed skype and all 3 replies told me that $6.99 is actually for 3 months subscription. When I login to their purchase page, 3 months subscription will now actually cost me $20.97 (previously was only $7.95 for 3 months)
Please tell me that their ‘new’ subscription rates aren’t new, just more, much more, expensive.
About new package setting is not bad.User have multi choice the package is very nice but a problem is very terrible.
As a sample I am Thailand package user.I purchase unlimited package per year. After 2 week.I want to purchase the world package. The world package is include the the Thaland package. But the new system is not auto refund the credit of Thailand package. This is not fair of the world package user.I hope skype know this problem and figure out it.
I was paying 4,99 euro per month, non-limited calls to Colombia (not mobile numbers) [Colombia sin límites] and I was so happy… that plan ended a week ago, I was today looking for renovate my subscription and I found an extra-bad surprise, 60 minutes 3 euro?, 120 minutes 5 euro? and mobile numbers is double, 60 minutes 5 euro? 120 minutes 9 euro?… come on!!! I was talking 120 minutes per call everyday one hole month and paying 5 euro!!!
Im totally disappointed … bad plans to latin america!!!
@qwerasdfzx90 get in touch with our support team – they’ll be able to refund the remainder of your Thailand subscription
so after 4 emails sent to skype customer service (because the first 3 didn’t bother reading my emails properly and all gave me wrong, that’s right, wrong answers), the fourth email from skype confirms it.
My unlimited subscription to US and Canada which was previously $2.95 a month is now $6.99 a month.
With a difference that huge, all i can say is that I won’t be renewing anymore subscriptions nor adding any more credit. Besides, I am only one customer, just a number in their system.
Goodbye Skype and t.g.f.g – Thank God for Google (Google Voice that is).
Add to the new subscription rates the fact that Skype (for the second year running) has not been able to authorize my purchase via Visa until one to two weeks after the previous subscription expires and then it magically works for a new subscription makes me think that it is time to say goodbye to an application that had promise, but has not been able to follow through (possibly due to ownership changes) and the chase for profits. To bad I can’t use the money in my Skype account to pay for the subscription. It is amazing that I can use Visa to add money to my Skype account, but not pay for a subscription. You would think that the two transaction processing systems would use the same code.
From the posts here, it looks like it is time to recommend to my family and friends that we give Google Voice a try. If Google Voice works, I should be able to influence the 20 or 30 people that I turned onto Skype to leave Skype and take their revenue with them. Not a big impact, but if every one that has problems with Skype financial transactions does this, it may eventually get management’s attention.
Last year, I payed $26.55 for unlimited calls to US and Canada for 12 months. Now I would have to pay $71.28 for the same service…
Besides, the rates for Mexico are the same that the local Telco (Telmex) offers…
This is definitely NO CHEAPER!!!
I guess I’m not renewing my suscription anymore…
I have an unanswered question.. Its like in an unlimited plan i have a daily limit of 50 calls? Is it true!
Pls clear my doubt soon coz its delay is bringin me huge problems!
How come I can’t call Colombia unlimited from the USA?
i see this news but i can’t find unlimited calls to landlines numbers on 39 countries excluding U.S numbers . does skype has this new plan???
charge just 5.95 dollar for unlimited calls to landlines numbers on 39 countries excluding U.S numbers. Another option offered for Skype users is unlimited calls facility to over 40 countries all over the world just for 12.95 dollars per month and also includes U.S. mobile numbers and also landline numbers.
What has happened? I have used unlimited calls package to Thaioland for years but now suddenly it´s gone!!?? Is that option not available anymore? I´m in Sweden and have a Swedish SkypeTo Go number
Peter, thanks for the update on subscriptions. I’m a bit confused by the website.
I will be in Peru in June and would like to be able to call the US (landlines and mobiles) from my iPhone using skype. What’s the best subscription for me?
I thought it might be the US plan, but I believe that’s only for calls originating in the US to other phones in the US.
Thanks for the clarification,
Chris
I’ve had Unlimited World for a few years by now, I still see Thailand listed on my current subscription. Will it get dropped from next month, or will I still have it as part of my on going subscription??
Very funny. Throughout a year under subscription, Skype charged my same credit card over and over without notice, send me a delivery notice, even though the ‘auto charge’ was disallowed. Now they want to cancel old subscriptions to charge a subscription increases. Instead of being upfront and honest by sending a ‘subscription increase notice’, I found coincidentally in my account a small red flag ‘buy a new subscription in 8 days’ because your renewal ‘auto payment’ failed. Yes, when is convenient to Skype, the ‘auto payment’ fails. NO company should treat loyal clients as ‘retards’. And yes, Skype language all over their site is for retards. How a company that do not have a human being in customer support, dares to treat clients like this and to take credit cards as their convenience. What I understood is that Skype expects clients to believe blindly that this virtual service will never fail and they have the authority to suck moneys from client’s credit cards by disabling account setting at their convenience. That is not fair, is irresponsible and fraudulent. If I have looked at my account after 9 days, would have found myself with no service. Is an email notice so much to ask? By the way, the new plans sucks. Not only more expensive, are ridiculous. The new North America plan excludes Canada. All plans in the US include Canada and PR these days. My Skype fellows, don’t ever forget, the same way you raise, the same way you fall…
My subscription has been automatically extended for another 3months. I have tried many times to cancel it myself, but I have never succeed. Therefore, can you please cancel the subscription for me, and delete my credit card detail, because I dont need your sevice anymore. Moreover, can u please tell me how can i get a refund for the new subscription. Cheers
@wearechris subscriptions are all about the destination. If you have a US subscription, you can use it to make calls to the US, wherever you are in the world.
@ptrk64 your existing subscription won’t change – if you get a new one, you’ll won’t be able to go back to the old one, however.
@movieavenue1 sorry to hear you had a bad experience – let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.
@agnesbbparis our support team should be able to help you out with this – just get in touch.
Leaving Skype, now that they have completely abandoned or raised prices on certain customers with these new subscription plans. No longer do they even offer an unlimited country to Colombia.
I recommend Vonage World, $24/month with unlimited calling to over 60 countries (landlines only in some), and many countries such as Colombia are included.
What is going on? I dare say a good case of fraudulent activity on behalf of Skype. I found one of my on-line numbers included in Unlimited World had been de-activated. This has happened numerous times since I’ve been a subscriber and every time the account has been pre-paid. This past few days I find it again to be de-activated. After trying to explain and have this rectified with on-line chat support, my subscription was cancelled with the reason being “A failed payment attempt”. I enquired with my Credit Card provider and was informed that there was ‘NO ATTEMPT’ by Skype for this payment. I have constantly requested the reason for this and proof to be given but keep getting the same response saying I can take out another subscription. Which now does not include the same access to countries such as Thailand. I am now going to make complaint to the governing bodies in my country, Australia and Skype’s country of origin suggesting that this is seemingly obvious fraudulent activity on behalf of Skype so as to have current subscribers change to different rate plans. A subscription is a ‘contract’ between two parties with conditions of cancellation. It seems Skype has purposely orchestrated the cancellation giving an excuse that there was a ‘Payment Attempt Failure’. Why would there be a ‘Failure’ when only 1 week earlier automatic ‘top-up’ credit was taken without problems. The amount of $14.95 would not be an amount that would cause my credit facility to not pay out. It is such a shame that such a wonderful facility has to start to become underhanded and greedy. Do they not realise that we will abandon them? Come on Ebay (Skype’s Owner) you’ll not only lose Skype subscriptions but also for Ebay support. One thing I find with ‘The Common People’ like myself. We do not support dishonesty. And going without this Skype subscription may cause some turmoil initially, but I am sure some other smart cookie will start up another facility to gain these disheartened members. Someone who will stay loyal to their clients. I for one am now going to check out Google Voice and Vonage World.
@davidewoodley sorry to hear about your experience – our support team should be able to help you out here. And by the way, eBay sold its majority stake in Skype last year
been using unlimited usa since a year, wont be any more because of the the increased prices
I cannot find the detailed description of the plans. For example, I am looking at the unlimited world, but cannot see if I get discounts on the online numbers as I did previously. Please paste link.
Bye Skype!! Have a nice life with your new plans!!
Peter Parkes,
This has been brought up on numerous occasions on this blog, but I have yet to hear an official response. Why has Thailand been removed from the Unlimited World plan? I have been an avid user for a year and enjoyed this feature, but now a significant factor into me using Skype has been removed. As with others that are disappointed with this, I wait for your response and will be looking at other options in the meanwhile.
@thai_guy we make changes to our prices and plans from time to time – whether we lower them or raise them, or add or remove countries. If you call Thailand a lot, you can get a subscription specifically for Thailand.
Why has Colombia been removed from the Unlimited World plan? I neeeeeed it…URGENT!
@caticalopez20 if you make lots of calls to Colombia, you can sign up to a separate subscription just for Colombia. Hope that helps!
Catica it’ clear that Peter does not want to address your question.
With skype new plans a 2 hour phone call to Colombia is more expensive
than the unlimited 24/7 price they’ve just removed from their plans without
any explanation to customers like you and me. Shame on the skype team
that can’t even talk openly about why some countries were deleted from the
list and transferred to very expensive subscription models which correspond
to a pre-skype era.
@ikunamusic we make changes to our prices and subscriptions from time to time – sometimes they go up, and sometimes they go down.
Peter Parkes,
What’s with Skype’s strategy to terminate subscriptions without users’ consent, thus violating its own Terms of Service?
My subscription to Unlimited World Plan with 3 online numbers included was canceled by Skype due to a “system error,” which Skype Live Support claims was unintentional. Skype however refuses to reinstate my old subscription because it is “technically impossible” to do so.
Because I am forced to subscribe again, this time to a plan that has less benefits (sans online numbers) at a higher rate, I inquired how Skype can terminate (whether intentionally or not) my subscription legitimately and get away without reinstating my previous subscription.
Skype Live Support cited Terms of Service 14.3 saying that Skype reserves the right to withdraw or change the subscriptions at any time.
What Skype Live Support team neglected to tell me was that in the same article 14.3, it goes on to say that “If Skype changes the Products included in Your subscription, Skype will send a notification by email, stating the changes and their effective date. If You do not wish to accept these changes, You are entitled to terminate Your subscription, in writing or by email by contacting our customer support team, with effect from the date on which the changes are due to take effect.”
According to Terms of Service Article 14.3, Skype should have notified me what and when changes will be made — which Skype failed to do.
I should have been given an option to either accept or reject new conditions of the subscription — which I was denied.
Nowhere in the Terms of Service, does it say that Skype can unilaterally terminate my subscription without my consent; I have to terminate the subscription if I refuse the changed conditions.
Therefore, it is inevitable for me to conclude that Skype violated its own Terms of Service.
I tried to get some feedback from Skype Live Support, but I was told that they are not in position to comment on the Terms of Service and that I should use the support website to file a “formal complaint” (which I already did) or send a letter to Skype Headquarters in Luxembourg — to whom?
I wish to receive Skype’s position on whether or not it violated its Terms of Service and what actions will follow.
And no, your support team wasn’t able to help me.
I need to contact someone from legal or someone who can comment on Skype’s Terms of Service. Could this be you?
@kwonathan I’m sorry to hear about your experience – I’ve asked one of our senior support team members to get in touch with you.
Dear Peter Parkes,
I appreciate you sharing me the information regarding your available Thailand plans. Surprisingly, your rates (3¢, 2.8¢, and 2.2¢ per minute for 60, 120, and 400 minutes respectively) are higher than Localphone (0.8¢ per minute). I was in a similar situation as kwonathan with the Unlimited World plan and an Online number. Having been a satisfied customer in the past, I was shocked to experience such a very poor response from Customer Service when my subscription was cancelled. At this point, it will take a lot to restore my confidence in Skype and assure me that this problem with subscriptions will not resurface in the future. I would also appreciate it if you had a senior support team member contact me directly.
My subscription expires in 6 days and I have tried to renew it on line with my credit card that you have on file, and every time i try to renew it comes back as failed. I have checked my credit card numbers as well as updated my bank verification, and still nothing yet. I would really like to put this charge on my credit card instead of setting up a pay pal account. Is there a phone number that can be called to process the charge, or am I relegated to using pay pal. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you
Hello: my subscription is paid thru May 2011. Why am i receiving notices that my credit card must be updated or i will lose my account?
Also with calls to the US and Canada, does this include the Bahamas?
Thanks, se
I paid for my skype credit and why does it automaticlly to top up to my unlimited world subscription. at the same time i got charge or deducted many time from my credit card.
How to cancel the unlimited world subscription?
I’m a loyal Skype user who has paid for SkypeOut and subscriptions for years.
I have a Thailand Unlimited subscription which I cannot renew. My credit card number expired and Skype will not allow me to renew the subscription with a new credit card – although they are happy to accept that card for a new subscription or skypeout credit.
I have to buy a new subscription with these new rates – and Thailand Unlimited is only available to existing subscribers – but Skype dont count me as one – just could my credit card expired.
That is no way to treat your loyal customers. I will have to start looking at alternatives now….. not happy at all!
Hi,
I use Skype to call home and use the 3 months payment plan. I finished my allocated minutes for this month and the page states that it will renew on Dec 5, 2010. However it is Dec 5, 2010 night here and it has still not renewed! Please help!
Thanks in advance!
