This is so confusing! I went to the page, entered my mobile number and no download happened. I got a link to the very page I went to in the beginning: http://www.skype.com/mobile. Tried to click on “download Skype” link and it took me to the “enter the phone number” form. Where is the download link?

@lyenas which phone do you have?

Any particular reason why Skype is refusing to develop an App for BlackBerry? There was a Blog entry back in Feb/Mar 2009, but nothing came out of it.

    http://about.skype.com/2009/03/skype_coming_to_blackberry_sma.html

Currently, there is a $40 app for BB from a 3rd party company, which I think is not fair for Skype users or the Skype company, unless Skype is getting a profit share from them.

Please develop a skype client for blackberry. It is one of the most powerful platforms out there and it would indeed help a lot of people.

    Thanks

@rajiv_gunja our BlackBerry app is in private beta testing right now, and we’ll release it to the public as soon as it’s ready. Watch this space!

Thank you. Any chance I can get an invite to beta testing? I have a BB storm-1. Thanks for updating.

    Hi,
I just wanted to download skype for my cell phone as well. Surprisingly there does not seem to be a skype version for N97 mini. I hope I am mistaken and you can send me a link. My wife has a Nokia 5800 and this is not part of the list either. Thanks for any help.

    Cheers,
    Remo

This is really annoying.Skype who instead of trying to give its customers good service is trying to make money with partnership of IM plus for skype.this is ridiculous and so bad.All mobile skype users are using it free. But there is no skype for blackberry and when we use im plus for skype,we need to purchase it and its £ 21 in uk.Its too costly. When skype itself is free why is these skype service giving product so costly. Is skype and im plus for skype combined for profit or else what is this?

  14. peterparkes said 1236 days ago

@subash_uprety there’s an update on Skype for BlackBerry here.

Does anyone know if skype will be available for blackberry soon. I live in the uk and i can only find that verizon will have skype built in on blackberry but i cant find a download. Verizon is not a mobile opperator in the uk and i would like to have a skype client on my phone. Even my old lg renoir and viewty had skype. come on skype team how hard can it be.

  16. simon-davis said 1110 days ago

Seems ‘Skype for Blackberry’ is actually ‘Skype for Blackberry for Verizon’ now.

If the technology exists, why is it limited like this? People have been asking for this for years. Even just the messenger functionaltiy would be a start, but Skype either ignores any questions about it, or links to (now dead) pages, promising it is coming – that was over a year ago.

So, we know it works (Verizon), we know messenger functionality has been working for years (IM+, etc), but Skype won’t do it.

I’m puzzled. Why don’t you just tell us why it isn’t happening?
