Was a warning that my version 4.1 130 was a newer version
My version upgraded to 4.1.0.136. I even Managed to get my Panasonic DV Camera to work with it. Using Windows Version on Vista.
Great now you can concentrate on the Linux client for a while!

Does this version solve the problem of font size?
My laptop computer has a high resolution (1440*900), and the font size of Skype will be very very small, especially the left side of the Skype window (my contact list and mood message). Is there any methods to enlarge the font size? I had tried many adjustments in Vista but it still doesn’t work.
Hello: Something Skype developers might wish to consider for a future release is a “busy signal” to a third party attempting to call one of two other parties already engaged in a Skype call.
In Skype for Windows 4.1, I am not able to create keyboard shortcut to mute the microphone via keyboard. I define the shortcut, then when I tab, Jaws for Windows says “ok”, but when I press space or enter on it, the shortcut doesn’t stay there and for that reason, the check box in front of the shortcut isn’t checked when I press space. Another suggestion, this one for Skype’s blogs’ posting method, I think there should be a way of deleting your own messages so that if a message is duplicate, or there is a spelling error, the person can correct it.

I am having problems with the new skype. It keeps kicking me off. As soon as I sign on, it immediately closes. I am using Windows XP as an operating system. I am trying to find a way to go back to the old skype.
I hope you fix this. I use Skype for my blog talk radio show.

My problem with this new version of Skype is the privacy or lack of. I have always had IM configured with no chat history. This version does not seem to honour that though. Even though the history is set to ‘None’, I still seem to have to go and Clear it after a conversation.
To illustrate this and show how disconcerting this is, I recently had an IM conversation with another family member. I then removed the person from my contact list and then later re-added the person to my Contacts. When I clicked on the person’s name, I was able to view the earlier conversation with this person from the ‘Conversations’ Menu!! Bear in mind that history is ‘OFF.
Another cause of concern is via simultaneous logons. While logged on and engaged in a conversation on one PC, I went to another PC at the same house and logged on to the same account. This second PC allowed me to view the conversation history I was having on the first PC.
The above is a big concern for privacy obviously and I am certain this was not possible on the earlier version of Skype. We share our Skype account at the house, but this does not mean that someone should be able to view a conversation that another person is having or has had on another PC. I can understand that each account has a record or list of the calls/chats made (though it should not with history OFF), but the actual conversation subject should at the most be stored ONLY on the PC in use. What I have observed here suggests that this is being recorded on Skype’s servers. VERY disconcerting!!!
Can anyone shed some light on this?
@kajalano if you sign in to Skype from multiple locations, your IM conversations will be synced across those locations – hope that clarifies things

Thanks for the response. Was this always a feature of Skype? If so am only now finding this out. Does Version 3.8 allow this as well? I am open enough to see that someone somewhere may find it useful, but I consider it a privacy risk. Can we not be given the option to enable or disable this?
Also, please advise me on the issue of conversation history that I raised in my earlier message.

The Contacts import tool from my Gmail account does not work. I have been trying for three days, but I always get a message like: “Service not available”.
I have a large contact database on Gmail (about 2000 contacts), but I need to have it imported in Skype and had welcomed this new feature. Can you fix the bug? Does it depend from you or from Gmail?

I just upgraded to v4.1 from v3 and now my outgoing video freezes after about 1 minute. This happens on different brands of computer and with different brands of webcam. How can I get help?
How do you find which version of skype you are using.
I am not liking the last upgrade that i did.
I used the SMS service alot and the new version makes it very difficult.
I cannot sent to a one off phone number but must add them to my contacts and one message cannot be sent to multiple people – the help comments have NOT been helpful – when looking for SMS help i get directed to IM.

Follow up to my post on video freezing:
If I REMOVE Zone Alarm from my system then there is no video freeze ups. Just shutting ZA down does not help.
I checked and Skype had all the necessary permissions in ZA.
Help! How do I look at snapshots I’ve taken during video calls? I knew how on the older version, but I can’t find them anywhere on the new version.
@kajalano it’s always been a feature, yes. There’s a difference between conversations in the list and IM history – you can delete a conversation from the list by hovering over it and clicking the ‘X’ button. Hope that helps!

Can I send SMS to any number?
You can send an SMS message to any number. To send a text message to a phone number that is not in your Skype contact list go to Tools > Send SMS Message. Enter the phone number in the entry field and click Add.
Please be sure that the number to which you are trying to send an SMS message is capable of receiving SMS (or SMS enabled).
The whole Skype out SMS service has been very bad since I upgraded
What happen to ‘Ctrl+s’, its gone and brings up the Skype menu instead. Everyone that uses an AIM client is accustom to ctrl+s to send the messages. Skype disabled this and changed it to ‘ctrl+enter’. Skype doesn’t even offer the option to enable this or even create hot-keys.
Looks like I will have to reinstall a previous version to re-enable the crtl+s functionality. If Skype forces the 4.x client upon us then will leave Skype in all.
Please Google this as there are a lot of threads on the Internet that have asked the same questions.

I have been getting a lot of those spam invitations and just went to my proile to change my picture – of the options I was given from my photo library were the snap shots i took during a video call.

I am very disappointed not to have received any feedback.
It is impossble to send text messages to new phone numbers.
There is no facility to send a text to a one off number.
Just now i have added someone to my contacts but when i order the contact as phone contacts the newly added person cannot be found.
When i look at all contacts the newlly added person can’t be found – when i try to add them again (given name only) I can’t as the phone number already exists. BUT WHERE.
I have gone off line and back on line but still not able to locate the person.
The SMS feature used to be very well set up and the ‘upgrade’ ruined it.
I purchaed $40 AUD of skype credits to be used sending text messages (i had gone through 3 lots of $15 top ups).
I have $29.23 credit remaining BUT Can’t use it for the purpose it was purchased. VERY DISAPOINTING.

I agree, I do not like the new 4.1 version and want to go back to the older version I had. 4.1 keeps shutting down on me. How long I don’t know, but when I want to go and use Skype the program is closed and have to relaunch it. I never had to do that before, it always stayed up and running. Anybody got the older version to reinstall?
Please, (please, please) give me back my auto redial in Skype for Windows.
I only purchased Skype Out because it gives me the ability to keep my phone calling for work automatically, while I do or seek other work. Skype without auto-redial is only a half step better than my cell phone, which sucks for the kind of calling I have to do.
Please bring back auto-redial! (2 seconds not 10 – works on the Mac please make it work here)

I downloades Skype 4.1 version and it show very small font size. Can I change it?
Skype disconnects by itself in a few seconds. I have tried logging in on 3 different computers and it does the same thing on each one. We are in Mali, West Africa so does that make a difference and it thinks that someone from this region is doing something wrong? It has worked here for 3 years now until this last week.
Robert: I am in Los Angeles and I am having exactly the same problem that you describe. It started a few days ago and I have no idea what the cause is. I have tried anti virus and anti malware scans. I have also uninstalled the program and then reinstalled it all to no avail. If you find an answer, please post it here. Thanks

I have a problem with my conversations history.
I had a conversation with my friend from Skype installed in my office. Also there was a chat with few customers.
When I launched Skype at home the messages from customers chat immediately appeared in my home Skype history. But chat history with my friend wasn’t updated despite the fact that he was online.
I have a Skype 4.1.0.166 installed. And as I could remember history was transmitted between my home Skype and work Skype without any problems in older versions.
Is there any problem with history in latest versions? Hope no, because that is one of the best Skype features for me. That distinguishes Slupe between other IM
i am really getting frustrated. i have vista and i can’t upload this 4.1 version!!! i need the window sharing. please quickly get through with this problem! i like using skype but if this goes on i’ll be going somewhere else!

there is time restrain in that
conversation of same day is automatically updated and it’s synchronized between 2 computer , i.e. if your friend also wasusing his ofc computer and now he is login with his home pc than also you wouldn’t get it or it’s not same day conversation

Just downloaded skype for the first time, and installed my HP delux webcam.
The video of the person on the other line keeps freezing on me. 5 to 10 minutes into the conversation, the video unexpectedly freezes. The person on the other line says they can see me and themselves fine, but their image freezes on me.

Hi have been using 4.1 for some time and I must say I do like it unlike most of the comments about. I have used the share screen problems with no issues and is a great tool to have. We do use skype on various machines however the only problem we have is on some of the machines the skype menu and calls menu just pops up randomly when skype is not even being used. All the machines are identical and are using (I believe)version 4.1. How/Why is this happening.
Wow, is there really no way to ONLY delete my call history and NOT my chat history in 4.1? I need my chat logs for work! I do not need my call history.
