Subscriptions extended to India, South Africa, Argentina, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Slovakia and Thailand

Unlimited calls
– now to 42 countries

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that we’ve added a few new countries to call to our subscriptions – not just that, but we’re offering a 25% discount on our already low rates if you sign up for 12 months before the 6th May.

Five simple reasons why Skype subscriptions rock:

  • You can talk as long as you want*, at any time of day, to over 40 countries
  • No long term contract – you can sign up for 1, 3 or 12 months at a time
  • You can call at any time – there’s no such thing as ‘peak’ or ‘off-peak’ with Skype
  • Voicemail included – so you never miss a call, plus 50% off an online number
  • You can use your subscription from your mobile (including iPhone) or from any mobile or landline with a Skype To Go number

If you’re looking for great value calls across the globe, our Unlimited World subscription should do the trick. You can make calls to over 40 countries – now including Argentina, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Slovakia and Thailand – for just $12.95 US/€8.95/£6.95 per month.

We have subscriptions for calls to specific countries, too – India and South Africa, for example – which are a great way to stay in touch with family back home at a time when every penny counts.

    - I don’t see India in the countries on the unlimited world subscription page. It is only offered separately as 300 mins a month on £9.14!! that is very misleading. Its either a mistake by the blog or the skype home page..Please clarify

@thom.vee sorry about that – my mistake. You’re absolutely right – the Unlimited World subscription does not include India or South African, and I’ve updated the post to reflect that.

I assume my previous subscription rate remains unchanged? I don’t need to call any of those countries.

I’ve been a subscriber for a long time and appreciate it very much, including the Skype To Go feature. I’ve got to stress though, that at the present moment, when you create a new or renew an old subscription there appears to be a severe problem with Skype To Go – it is in fact impossible to set it up in your account. I and other customers have reported it to Skype support and on Skype forums and we are told that Skype developers are aware of the problem and they’re working on it. However, it hasn’t been solved yet (and we’ve been waiting for several days now). So if you buy a Skype To Go subscription now along with your usual subscription, you might experience disappointment – until Skype has solved the problem that is.

How do I move from Unlimited Mexico to Unlimited Country? They are basically the same, but the second one allows me to call 40 countries more!

  6. peterparkes said 1493 days ago

    @gelfgat60 yes – completely unchanged

@halinagold – could you let me know what happens when you try to set up a Skype To Go number?

@d14852001neko – Unlimited Country subscriptions are just for single countries, like Unlimited Mexico. To move to Unlimited World, which includes over 40 countries, just head over to the sign-up page. It will automatically replace your existing Unlimited Mexico subscription, and any unused subscription value will be returned to you in Skype Credit.

@peterparkes I go through all the steps of the setup and click Finish. After that, there is no change in the Skype To Go tab of my account – no Skype To Go number has been set up. If I try to call the number that I was given during the set up process I get a “no such number” dial tone.
The problem has been reported to support and is described by me and other users at
    http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=318221
I’ve just tested it again – no change still.
In other words I and other subscribers haven’t got the product that we have ordered and expressed appreciation for in the form of money.

@peterparkes Thanks for following up – I appreciate it! It looks like part of your message above got cut off though?

I think Skype is being unfair to other countries that get charge for calling places. Unlimited world should consider all countries throughout the globe. Not only 42 countries to get good deal.

I highly suggest to modify their subcription option and let all countries get a fair deal.

Using phone calls still an option for most folks if anything. Calling cards have cheaper rate than using Skype.

SkypeToGo is still not working. I start feeling that this is unacceptable from a business point of view: Basically Skype is currently selling subscriptions to a product that does not exist. I am going to contact support today and unless the problem is resolved very, very quickly I’m going to cancel my subscrption to SkypeToGo and switch to Vopium.com. Who by the way just recieved Frost & Sullivan 2009 European Mobile VoIP Award.

Any chance of your special offer including Qatar where I think Skype is useable?

  14. crionell said 1478 days ago

Hi, I just had an idea for something to add to skype. It’s very simple, so the CPU usage and all should be very efficient. I’m using skype to talk to people in other countries, as I bet lots of people do, and I find myself wondering what time it is in the country I’m about to call (my sister lives in Germany). So I have to go on google to look up the time there.

But wouldn’t it be easy to have skype calculate the time for my contacts or just have a world clock? I think that would help me a lot, and maybe other people, too!

Hi, I just signed up for the Skype subscription but when somehow did not receive 50% off the online number. Can someone, please explain and if Skype could fix that would be great. Cheers

  16. peterparkes said 1474 days ago

@justin.gemadvisers I’ve asked someone to investigate – they’ll be in touch with you directly.

The Skype charges to India are very costly. 9.2C/Minutes, very costly. Please look at the leading Telecom companies like Reliance and Airtel. They are charging at 3cents/minute. I would recommend Skype to reduce the charges as there is big potential in number of customers moving to Skpye from these companies

    Dear Sir,

I made a deposit last June 8th for a unlimited plan for 12 months, the credit appears in my account but until now I can not make calls, or more precisely, I establish the call but the other person (on PC or on phone) does not hear me. Could you give me an email address to inform the details in other to solve the problem? The micro works ok. What I think is that the money did not arrive to Skype yet.
Sorry for using the blog for this purpose, but after 40 minutes looking for any way to contact Skype this is the only one I’ve got.
    Kind regards,
    Diego García

You seem to have False Answer Supervision (FAS) on your calls to Israel. The first minute’s amount is deducted with the FIRST RING and not when the other Party answers. This is is both wrong and illegal if you want to be a Telecom provider in Italy, and can lead to legal problems with your service. FAS depends upon your Terminating Partner but we (the Customers) should not be charged for it. IS THIS NORMAL?????
Additionally, same calls to the same number and for the same duration have different charges. We are talking 0,01 Euro Difference but it shows that your costing algorithm is not correct. This is also a problem which can have consequences. IS THIS ALSO NORMAL????
    regards,

    Sergio Orso

  20. peterparkes said 1424 days ago

@petrof216 – Skype is a Luxembourg based software company, not an Italian telco. Check your call history online for full details of charges – we’ve tweaked some of our prices recently so that may affect what you’ve been charged.

    Dear, all

I am a new Skype subscriptions in one month. In the Fair Usage Policy, it said that every user can call to unlimited landline or mobile phone in 6 hours a day or 10,000 minutes a month. But when I begin calling, the time of calling start count from 1,2,…30:00 and then It counts down from 30:00 to 29:00, …
What is it mean? It mean I can call only 1 hours a day. Please help me.

    Thanks!

  22. peterparkes said 1422 days ago

@ranyinternetcall2 the timer in the call window is just for that call – not for your daily allowance. Hope that clarifies things.

  23. peterparkes said 1422 days ago

@flia.garcia.de.nevares sorry I missed your earlier comment – try making a call to echo123 to test your settings. Let me know if that helps

I agree with previous posters that it is quite odd that Skype Unlimited World does not include India and other countries. One of the reasons I signed up for a subscription was to call India.

Perhaps peter or someone else on the Skype end could comment on this.

    Thanks.
