Skype 4.0 for Windows hotfix
Today we are releasing a hotfix version of Skype 4.0 for Windows.
Start downloading the new build from here.
The new hotfix version of Skype 4.0 solves problems with blank Skype menus when using Skype in Hebrew and Skype hanging while making a video call to a Skype client which does not support video.
We are always keen on hearing what you think about Skype. Comment on this blog post, discuss it in our forum or file an issue report in our public issue tracker.
The new version is 4.0.0.224 and it has following changes compared to the previous release:
* Optional install: Google Chrome browser
* bugfix: Skype menus were blank in Hebrew localisation
* bugfix: Skype hung when making video calls to clients which do not support video
Please check the file on your server! It is old 4.0.0.215 version!
when will 4.0.0.224 be on line
Thanks for fix with Hebrew localisation.
Suggestion, can you make Skype’s UI full adapted to RTL-languages (Arabic, Hebrew etc.), look at Chrome’s UI, it’s a really great example of 100% RTL-language compatible UIю
By the way, when I type a message on RTL-language in IM, Skype doesn’t pay attention to the text direction, unlike Google’s chat/talk. Please, fix it.
Does this build 4.0.0.224 fix the widely reported problem of laptops running Vista suffering total system freeze requiring hard reboot when in a video call?
Hey I am having a huge problem with Skype right now. This may have already come up in earlier posts but Whenever I try to launch Skype 4, Skype shuts down and says “Skype has stopped working.” I can’t figure out what I am running that might be making Skype fail. I have downloaded almost every update that has been available but to no avail. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Any info would be great. Thanks.

In download, the link to see the technical notes does not work, it instead automatically starts the download.
There is no page set up to discuss it in the forum. If there is one, would be nice to link to it, rather than just to the forum homepage.
No notes about fixing the video (even when I have “automatically start video in call” selected, I must still start it manually. This is a deal killer to me. If they can’t fix it must go back to 3.8 which can be downloaded from http://www.oldaps.com/Skype.
Also have to constantly reset my audio options each time I attach my bluetooth headphone, even though set to them as a preference. The preference for the headphone works, but not that for the speakers. They also need to establish a preference for the ring.
P.S. Used to be very easy to find things at Skype.com. No longer. Always feel it is a waste of my time.

I have tried using the Skype 4.0 upgrade with Windows Vista and am getting a similar problem. The computer seems to think it’s my sound card that’s not working, but this only started with the upgrade. However, it has effectively made ALL audio on my PC not work now.
I also recently installed Norton (Symantic Endpoint Protection)… would this have any conflicts with Skype?
I agree with the earlier comments that the user interface is more difficult to use now as well. Especially the conversation history section. I need to go back and look up specific conversations with people frequently, but now that it lumps them all in under one user I have to take a very long time to sift through all the nonrelevant stuff now. Is there a way to separate these again?
I have seen several comments as to the fact that PUBLIC Chats are no longer accessible through 4.0 — can someone PLEASE tell us how to do this, if it will be added, or what we should look for concerning using public chats? This is a greatly loved function and we need it back! Makes me wish I hadn’t upgraded….
I just downloaded the skype 4.0 ever since i cannot connect as it does not seem to see that i am connected to the internet. Please can someone help me solve this as my internet is working and i can browse. thank you

I’m using Windows XP SP3 and my location is Iran. My windows has got 2 languages; English and Farsi. I have this problem as well. It’s happened for me when I had to reinstall my Windows. When I installed the new version (4.0.0.226)I couldn’t see my contacts. I uninstalled Skype, restart my PC then installed Skype again but the problem is continuing. I also downgrade to version 4.0.0.224 but still has got the problem. what should I do?
Hi,
In the chat, sentences which have both hebrew and english in them always come out wrong (unlike other IM applications like messenger, GTalk, etc…)
Can you please fix this?
