Hi, I would like to know if version 2.5 support Skypein?
If yes, does it connect via 3G network?

Thank you. Your answer is much appreciated.

I installed skype 2.5 for windows mobile on my pocket PC. I still find the sound choppy, but I did get it to work with my blue tooth headset. I used a program called “acbToggleBT” which redirects the loadspeaker audio to the blue tooth headset. In the previous version of skype for WM, the sound came through the headset but the microphone on phone remained the active microphone. This time sound and microphone transfers to the headset. The DTMF codes for AT&T conference lines work better, but the skype numeric keypad is still slow to send the tone. I almost timeout typing in the conference code.

    Hi,

I been using the previous version on both my windows mobile 6.1 phones perfectly, once installed the current 2.5 version on both of them, I was shocked by the bad voice quality which I can’t use skype out calls anymore due to bad voice quality. I’m shocked what they did to downgrade the voice quality!

I download 2.5 tonight and it installed and I have sound!
Previous version installed ok on my HTC Mogul but I had no sound.
I was able to complete a call to a cell phone with limited signal and it wasn’t to bad.

On my HTC TORNADO(WM6.1, processor TI OMAP850 overclocked to 264MHz) V2.2 worked MUCH BETTER. I agree with muhamed012. Sound is extra chopy.

I downloaded Skype 2.5 Beta to my Treo 700W and it apeared to install correctly. However, when I try to run the application I receive the following “Couldn’t find all the necessary resource files to start Skype. Please try to install Skype again.”

I have tried to install 3 times all directly to my phone and producing the same error each time. Any ideas how to resolve the issue?

  9. sgroimobile said 1601 days ago

You are installing the wrong version. I just installed on the 800w and I got the same error. You need to install the pocket PC version, not the smartphone.

On another note on my Treo800w (Sprint). I was able to install, I went and bought a phone number and service to use as a wi-fi phone. But here is my problem. The treo has a switch on the top of the phone that turns on and off the external speaker (speakerphone and audible sounds). When the switched is turned to vibrate I do not get any sound when a call is made. When the switch is turned to on (external speaker on) I get the sound. This is useless to me as I do not want to use like this and I rarely use a headset.

    Anyone know of any fixes??

    Hi,
I’ve just tried installing 2.5 beta (both PocketPC and WindowsMobile installs) on a HTC Touch HD (on Orange) and I get an error saying that the version of the package is invalid.

    Any ideas here yet?

I installed this on my HP Ipaq and am also getting the “Couldn’t find all the necessary resource files to start Skype. Please try to install Skype again. Skype will now quit.”
I tried via the PDA and via PC. Is there another version out that works since no one has given any ideas on how to fix this?

I wonder since I’m not the only one who sees this: “Couldn’t find all the necessary resource files to start Skype. Please try to install Skype again. Skype will now quit.”
if there isn’t a fundamental flaw here. Is there a fix for this? I’m using a Samsung SCH-i760 with WM6.1. Everything else I’ve installed has run fine but Skype, the ONE thing I want to run! I’d appreciate any ideas as I have scoured the web looking for the older versions of the beta that were supposed to have worked.
    Thanks much!

I had the same problem on my HTC Fuze Smartphone. Everytime I started Skype the error message “Couldn’t find all the resource files to start Skype. Please try to start Skype again. Skype will now quit.” poped up. So I installed the version for Pocket PCs instead and it worked perfectly fine. Hope this will help some of you!

I just successfully installed Skype 2.5 Beta for Windows Mobile in my HTC Touch pocket pc. I’m using it with a WIFI connection and the problem is that when I do the Echo test, both the received and sent transmissions are almost always too broken up to understand. Once in a while, if I try several times, it works, but mostly it doesn’t. I’ve tried every combination of settings, with no luck. I also tried calling a friend on Skype (mobile) – they could hear me, but their transmission was completely broken up. Any suggestions?

kerstin190184 – Thanks! It works perfect!

For those of you getting the message, “Couldn’t find all the necessary resource files to start Skype. Please try to install Skype again. Skype will now quit.”.

Download the file from the Pocket PC link. That works with my Samsung Omnia w/Win Mobile 6.1 using either G3 or Wi-Fi.

    Hope it works for you!

I just installed this version on my HTC Touch HD. I use it with Wifi and when I make calls the sound quality is perfect WHEN I hear the person that I am talking to, but half the time I just don’t hear anything.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? I would love to be able to use it since the sound quality seems to be so good.

  23. h.klinke said 1554 days ago

One more thing: I am using the HTC HB S100 bluetooth headset, but Skype does not uses its microphone but the mic of my mobile phone instead.

  24. gianni261260 said 1551 days ago

I installed the pocket pc version on skype 2.5 on my HTC Diamond, and everythingt works fine till I try to make a skype out call, then it simply doens’t connect to the other phone. The same happens when trying to do the echo test.On the other hand I am able to use skype with fring software.
Hope there will be any suggestion. Thank you.

For HTC Touch HD , please download the Pocket PC version. Otherwise you will get the message “Couldn’t find all the resource files to start Skype. Please try to start Skype again. Skype will now quit.”

  26. arichards01 said 1537 days ago

greg_watson, where did you get the progrogram “abcToggleBT” to make the headset work.

  27. arichards01 said 1536 days ago

got the program acbToggleBT and it partially works. It impacts Skype performance (ie numerous contacts are greyed out when they shouldn’t be). I can get the speaker coming through the bluetooth headset but clashing with the dowmload program on my Palm Treo Pro (WM6.1). Are there any other, similar utilities that could fix this??

  28. stcbarn said 1533 days ago
