Skype for Windows hotfixes
Today Skype has updated Skype 4.0 Beta 1 for Windows and Skype 3.8 for Windows.
Updates for both clients are small updates which resolve some recently found issues with previous releases.
Start downloading the updated 3.8 or 4.0 Beta 1 right now.
I’d like to remind that Skype 4.0 Beta 1 is a beta version of software which means that we are still working on it and it’s not yet a final version.
You may discuss Skype on our forums and report problems in using Skype in our public issue tracker Jira.

This is the first time I have made a comment although I have visited this site many times. I have been a Vista user since 2/2007. I still have alot to learn about using the computer and am not a techie by any means. My communication with family in Europe was good prior to purchasing a computer with Vista. Since then we have all suffered. I cannot get my microphone to work. I can hear the other party but they cannot hear me when I place a call. Also this may sound like a dumb question but a few months ago we stopped using a land line and now only use our cell phones. I use Cable for my internet usage. Can I still make Skype calls without a land line? Can someone help me using layman’s language? I sure would appreciate it.

Dear Mary.Jo.McConnell, Skype uses VOIP technology, which stands for “Voice Over Internet Protocol”, meaning all you need to use it is an internet conection. Hence, if you have cable internet, there’s no need for a landline phone. Good luck with your microphone in Vista.
