It's Jira time again – recently fixed bugs and known issues

It’s time for another update from the Jira front. To remind you – Jira is our issue tracking system where everybody can report any API or Extras platform related bug/problem/feature request. Below is an overview of the latest known problems and recently fixed cases. There’s many Extras related bug fixes waiting to get live, so wait for my next update.

Known problems:

Public API (SPA Jira project):

+ [SPA-478](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-478) – Open Skype command from system tray should set silent mode to OFF.
+ [SPA-486](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-486) – Possible difference in the DTMF sent by the Skype Dialpad and from the API
+ [SPA-306](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-306) – Security Dialog sometimes not appearing under Vista. The problem is that the application shouldn’t be started with admin privileges since Skype is not run with admin rights either and otherwise there will be a conflict and Skype can not give the permission rights properly. This also goes to the situation when the application is started from the installer since the installation is happening under admin rights. It’s actually up to every developer to make his application Vista friendly and avoid this problem.

Extras (PIF Jira project):

+ [PIF-795](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-795) – Uninstalled extra is shown under My Extras. This is a problem when the Extra is uninstalled from Control Panel.

Recently fixed issues:

Public API (SPA Jira project):

+ [SPA-421](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-421) – CALL command reply inconsistent with Windows client

Extras (PIF Jira project):

+ [PIF-697](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-697) – User receiving “Failed to make a purchase: you were not charged” message whey trying to buy an Extra. This was a payment related bug which is fixed now.

Other issues:

+ [SPA-482](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-482) – Partner feedback form was broken for a while, but is fixed now.
+ [JSA-37](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/JSA-37) – Skype4Java cannot connect to libJSA.so (Ubuntu Linux), throws java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError. Should be fixed now.

    Gang,

I have detected following behavior which I think it is a bug.
I am using Skype for Mac OS X version 2.7.0.257, my partner is using latest Windows client.
There is no call involved. Just chat.
When my partner disconnects and reconnects then we cannot keep chatting. Messages appear always as “pending”. Mac client does keep receiving online status notifications (like from online to skypeme to away, for example). We need to completely restart clients for the chat to work again. It seems that chat subsystem (if something like that exists internally) caches IP address (as it does kind of point-to-point connection).
However, if we both use Windows client this doesn’t happen.

Hope this helps. I would be glad to answer further questions for you to be able to open a JIRA issue properly.

justavo, please still file a new Jira issue for this problem, it’s very hard to track it here. You can use this link – https://developer.skype.com/jira/secure/CreateIssue!default.jspa

    Thank you!

I saw an advertising banner of skype going out of the skype window, fit the whole screen width. I would attach the screen shot if possible.

Dear bill.ro, please let our regular customer support know about this issue – https://support.skype.com/

It would be nice if on the Skype support page, there was a link to file a bug report. Obviously, based on the comments to the blog, there is a need for this!

In lieu of any other options, here is a bug report:
If you change any settings in Tools-> options, then click save (while you have no internet connection), it correctly says it can’t save. But, if you reconnect to the internet, then hit save again, it still says it can’t save – it says this immediately without actually trying again.

Just downloaded and ran for the ubuntu 8.10 64 bit beta version: software finds my Logitech Pro 9000 video camera, but does not find any microphone inputs except for “Pulse Audio (local)” and therefore cannot provide an audio link to other end…Version for 8.04 ubuntu does find audio input options, including the camera microphone. I just downloaded the latest version of skype. I had 2 blue screens of death tonight while on skype. I have not had the problem when skype is off line.

not sure where to post bugs, but after 2 minutes of searching I’m happy to post them here given there’s no apparent better place (though i’m sure there is). I’m using vista (yes, yes I know but I’m migrating to linux and still have a few hurdles)…
anyway Vista, Skype 4.1.0.179 and a M-audio firewire audiointerface.
Windoze is using the same audio defaults I wish skype would use.

Everytime I start skype it defaults to my hdmi audio out, rather than my audio interface. I’ve set all the preferences time and time again but skype likes to make it’s own choice.

Hopefully someone somewhere can let Skype know.

There used to be problems with the audio in defaulting to different options (I had an on/off switch on my mic, which confused skype a lot)

I went to https://support.skype.com/ (choose “Submit support request” link from the right hand menu). But it looks more like a FAQ page and didn’t mention bug reports anywhere.

Apologies for being negative, just fed up with unknowingly beta testing products…

PS: I tried https://developer.skype.com/jira/login.jsp in the meantime… it wouldn’t accept my name and password

Dear arbermusliu, please submit your problem to our issue tracking system. Instructions can be found from here – https://developer.skype.com/SkypeGarage/ReportIssue Make sure you add logs, preferably from both sides for video issues. This way we can investigate this problem properly. Thank you!

Hello, I am experiencing a bug now in your latest two updates regarding the “call phones” feature. It crashes most of the time now as soon as I try calling someone. I get a message “do you want to report this error” as it starts to play the voice recording or as the person is saying hello, then skype closes completely and I have to reboot it.

I have found that if I add the same number to my contacts and call through that way it is working fine.

This has just started happening, and I make a lot of calls, so the pattern is clear. It started a week or so ago with an update I agreed to. I just tried updating to see if a newer version was available that might have perhaps caught this problem, and it does seem a bit more stable, but alas, it still crashes most of the time, but at least that is not all of the time (lol).

I have this on an Windows XP media version laptop.

BTW, I also had a hell of a time trying to get this message to you’all! You really need to provide better customer support access! Your FAQ has NOTHING on where and how to report bugs. or how to contact support. For a prime player in the telecom market, this is not good.

    Thanks, allen
