Does anybody else have a problem with the upgrade to 3.6.0.248?

I have checked for updates in Skype 3.6.0.244 as I was always doing. New version was offered to me and install went thru (no problems reported). After Skype has automatically restarted, Help->About is still showing 3.6.0.244. And Check Updates again offers me upgrade. I have tried to upgrade 3 times and everytime after reset, it was still previous version.

I also have a problem upgrading to 3.6.0.248. I upgraded my wife’s computer to .248 several hours ago without a problem. However, when I went to download the update (under Help-update), it said that the update failed. I even went as far as uninstalling .244 and downloaded the file from Skype and did a clean install. When it installed, it was still version .244. The only thing that I can think of is that Skype discovered some bugs and pulled .248 for some tweaking? That’s just a guess. I will try again tomorrow.

Please try re-downloading. I’m getting .248 now, but was getting .244 before.

It is now Friday, February 8th and I am still not able to update my .244 to
.248. I even downloaded the setup.exe file directly from Skype, but when I right click on it, then go to Properties, then version, it shows as version
.244. Something weird is going on here. I can’t upgrade directly from
within Skype (under Help/update) it still says the update failed.

I only hope the folks at Skype actually read this! I can’t understand why they still have .244 posted for direct download. Anyone have any ideas as
    to what’s going on?

I would like to know if someone have used Skype without problems, I have been waiting for somebody to say that Skype works correctly for Windows Vista, don´t want to download and cause instability to the system, but i´m desperate for use it.

Me gustaria saber si alguien ha descargado Skype en Windows Vista y si estos han funcionado correctamente, no quiero descargarlo y causar inestabilidad en Windows Vista o utilizar Skype a medias, alguien por ahi con una historia positiva?

Yesterday I accidentally downloaded 3.6 for update since that my skype can not work properly. Now I only can chat but not be able to use voice talk and it run very slow. If someone call me my skype will show it 2 mins later and can not see the pop up window to click answer until few mins later, but by that time, people already hang up. Is someone there can tell me how to fix it…. before I never have this kind of problems.

Just put in skype “update” 3.6 date 16Feb08 on XP Pro, and I can’t connect on skype at all. Not firewall. MS firewall is off; Norton has been switched off to check. Not router but rebooted anyway (macbook OK via router). Uninstalled & reinstalled skype. All other apps work. Anyone got an idea?

Have installed Skype 3.6.0.248 on HP Vista computer using Realtek Audio Manager, Logitech 9600 web cam (microphone driver disabled) and Plantronics A330 headset.

My computer has all the latest updates (Windows, etc.).

Still having problem with audio settings not being “remembered” after saving plus with Realtek Audio Manager open at the time I initiate a call and ringing starts, the volume slider moves to zero. I must then slide it back to normal levels.

The settings I save and that don’t get remembered for Speakers under Audio Settings when I restart Skype the very next time are:

    Should be saved:
    Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

    Revert to:
    Realtek Digital Output (RCA)

I must change it back manually before making a call.

    Any ideas??

I’ve just downloaded Skype 3.6 for Windows hotfix on this page today and it’s still not working. The bar on the very bottom with the spinning arrows show that it’s trying to connect and the horizontal arrows with “Connecting” right beside it says “The following applications are connected to Skype via API…
I’ve checked the “Manage API Access Control” and there are no applications on this list. February 8, 2008 was the last time I’ve made an outgoing call.

vicyouel: first backup your contacts. Then shut down Skype, then try uninstalling Skype via Configuration screen > add/remove programs. If that doesn’t work, throw away the Skype folder in Program Files. Then do a harddisk-wide search (including hidden/system folders) for the word Skype and throw away every folder related to it. If you have the confidence, you can do the same in the Registry (don’t mess in the registry though if you don’t know what you’re doing!). Then download Skype anew and try to reinstall. Usually works for me.

I’ve got a few gripes with an Acer M5100 running Vista. We’re running the newest audio drivers and the newest version of Skype. We also have one of those Linksys CIT200 wireless USB handsets, so we can walk away from the computer and talk like a normal phone. However, a few bugs are still in effect:

    - If we tell Skype to use the CIT200 as standard audio for Skype, it simply flips back to the windows speakers and audio in jack. (From what I’m reading above, I’m not the only one.)
    - the Audio Out settings keep jumping back to Muted, meaning you can’t hear the other party talk.

If you set the settings correctly you can talk with the handset via Skype, no problem, but after Skype has restarted it’s back to square one. Has anyone found a fix or workaround for this? Can I script a solution somehow? Will my mom ever bake a cake?

    Food for thought for developers:
    - find out what overrules Skype’s settings and flips them back to the previous setting. Bad registry / ini file write? Disappearing hardware?
    - When does Skype use the default windows settings, and when not?

    regards,

    Meindert

Here is my problem, I can make a room no problem, but it won’t let me in.
I went to my other computer with XP and had no problem running my room.
When I use Vista and I try to get in my room, the next thing Skype tells me is to upgrade my Skype, I am running Ver 3.6.
I guess we still have a problem with Skype and Vista as other users have told me; they have the same problem when making a room for voice chat.

Does anyone know what to do about this problem????

Today I just updated skype to rel.3.6.0.248 on Windows Vista Home Premium, and I can’t connect on skype at all.
MS firewall is off; Firewall has been switched off to check, howevere firewall settings are ok.
    Uninstalled & reinstalled Skype.
    All other apps work.

Please help me, before the upgrade at rel.248 Skype was perfectly working!

I use Windows Vista Home Premium.

I also have a problem. Since I’ve upgraded to 3.6, when I am talking to someone for around 15 minutes or if I join 3 or 4 people in conference, Skype blocks the connections and hangs. I can neither make new calls, nor logoff Skype.

Sometimes, I need to reboot my machine in order to use skype again.

It never occurred when using Skype 3.5 instead.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Marcelo

The upgrade process went smoothly, but now my webcam has problems with Skype. My video is frozen for me (the other person sees my video fine).

  19. yeempie said 1893 days ago

I’ve installed, suggested by skype, update to 3.6 on Vista Business. Since then I cannot connect. In “Check for updates” it says no “It seems that this computer does not have Internet access”. In status, arrows just keep rolling. Tried to uninstall and reinstall 3.6 – same effect. Tried to uninstall and install 3.5, 3.2 – same effect. Older versions (which worked fine) don’t work anymore.
    Any ideas?

Bug Report: With “Let Skype adjust my audio settings” selected Skype 3.6.0.248 deselects the microphone as input record device when a call is made.

I have tried for months to upgrade just tried to install Skype 3.6 yesterday
but just as soon as it starts up it shuts down. I’m using windows XP, I also tried to install it on a friends XP computer and it did the same thing. I had to revert back Skype 3.0 to avoid this problem. Anyone know what the problem could be?

  24. renateappelo said 1876 days ago

For those who are using a linksys CIT200, Go to Advanced (in your preferences menu), click on Manage other programs’ access to skype. That might be it…… I saw that my phone was under the “deny access to skype column… If you do that, you can get the phone to work.

    Skype is starting to suck!!

Downloaded 3.6 and installed on Vista and now can´t connect. Have re-installed, have removed 3.6 and deleted skype folders, registry keys and re-installed, have removed 3.6 and re-installed previous skype version, have sent very abusive comments to skype…..nothing helps!!

My account works on another computer running XP and the skype is not version 3.6. My computer runs windows firewall and defender. I have tried de-activating firewall.

    NOTHING!!!!

Anyone have a similar experience they managed to solve?

i’m running on windows vista home, which was an upgrade from xp..ever since i shifted to vista, skype has been giving me problems! i can make calls and send and receive videos, but after a few minutes of talking, skype suddenly freezes and hangs..i then have to quit skype and restart it, making it such a hassle..i have the latest version 3.6.0.248! i hope someone out there can help me fix this!

All. A major problem is that if you are using the latest version of MSM it will have an effect on Skype. I use a CIT200 phone and if latest MSM is running it will not connect. I had to downgrade to MSM version 8.1 to keep my phone working.

MSM has telephongrapgy service and believe it tryies to grab hold of everything so creates a conflict.

Since downgrading to 8.1 my phone works perfectly!!!
