I would also appreciate a 64bit version for linux

One more vote for 64 bits, this makes absolutely no sense !

I have a clean hardy install on a machine and i won’t be putting skype until they release a proper 64Bits deb. At some point, after so much time with nothing happening, we have to act.

If they lose customers they will start considering this.

    thanks.

how soon you can get 64bit pls.

Hey! I’m running 64-bits Ubuntu on a new Dell XPS M1330 machine, unfortunately I have to revert back to my old Mac when I have video chats with my clients due to the fact that I have all sorts of problems with sound when trying to run the 32 bit Skype client on my Dell.

So; please! Can you guys build a 64-bit linux version of your wondeful Skype client?

  5. johnny.belisle said 1829 days ago

Well, I gess by the time you guys are taking to build a 64bit version, you will end up building a 128bit at the same time. ha!ha! Looks like technologie is beating you guys.

    Some feedback please?

i have 3 suggestions about the linux skype 1st is to have enter button so when u wonna paste sth in the chat to be able to send it with out the keyboard just hit enter (send) button, and second to have some options for call forwarding, so it is possible to configure that not only from a win skype but linux as well, and final is to have key bindings (hot keys for operations like answer, hangup and mute), so you can manage your calls without exiting sth taking a full screen (like amarok keys – very handy).

Please write your opinion about this suggestions (developers)

    Thank you

Is it so complicated to compile in 64bits ?

I vote for 64bits as well
    (Hardy Heron – Ubuntu 8.04.01 – 64bits)

I notice all the comments about 64 bit and “how hard can it be”. Well, a lot of code is not 64 bit clean. I remember how long it took to get Open Office ported to 64 bit for the same reason.

No it is not complicated to compile in 64 bit once the code is changed for it and that in itself is not always trivial.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! SAME SITUATION AS SKID!!

Please, please, please. 64 bit version, pleeease! I have amd64 running Linux Ubuntu Studio 7.10, download Skype for Linux and tells me wrong architecture right off the bat. This is getting boring. Laptop came with Vista Basic pre-installed (vomit), though it does run Skype fine as is 32 bit OS. About the only reason I have Vista installed is for Skype on the move, so please, release me from this Microsoft hell and bring out the 64bit for AMD and others, please.

I´ve been using Skype in place of a landline for about 2 years now and couldn´t be happier. Fantastic work – love the concept and the application. Keep up the great work. Just don´t understand the 64 bit delay – maybe something we don´t know about regarding 3rd party licensing? Wild guess.

    Cheers
    Skid

    THANKS!

    64-bit Ubuntu 8.10 needed.

Please compile Skype for 64-bit. It’s way too easy! They just need to use gcc -march x86_64.

Every new computer sold is 64-bit. 64 bit CPUs have been out for over 5 years. Even new windows computers are 64-bit. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE compile for 64-bit.
