Skype on Nokia N800 update
We have released an updated version of Skype for Nokia N800 Internet Tablet.
First of all we would like to thank everyone who have given us their thoughts and feelings on previous versions, which has given us lot of information to know on which direction to improve our product.
We would be more than please if you would continue to give us all the comments you have on our products as it helps us a lot on making them even better for you. Like the user with nickname Dumplingfan on our forums has requested call forwarding option on Skype for Nokia N800, which we have now included in this release.
You can leave feedback through Skype forums or reports issue in our public issue tracker Jira.
You can download the new release from here.
Changes compared to previous release are:
New features:
* Call forwarding settings
* Quick option to clear history
Usability improvements:
* Easier navigation when in a chat
* Smoother account creation
* Contact numbers shown in profile
* SkypeOut dialling field has a + sign always and can be easily cleared by holding edit button
In addition to these improvements and new features it also has numerous bugs fixed.
The one feature that everyone seems to agree on is Video. As this feature is already enabled for Google Talk, it should be an easy port to Skype, yes?
I think when Skype gets video for their Linux version, we will see a version for the Nokia devices (N800 and N810) very soon afterwards.
It seems that the current version of Skype for N800 (os2008) does not have the ability to forward to voicemail, only to other numners. Is this ability in the works?
I would really like the video Conf. working for OS2008!
At the risk of repeating the wishes of everyone else. Is video chat on Skype coming anytime soon?
Is video chat on Skype coming anytime soon or is there anything to make it work now

i really hope skype isn’t deleting all the negative posts; this is ridiculous.
this has got to be the worst voip program yet. it’s a shame, because the nokia n800 and n810 are the best voip handsets i’ve ever used.
skype for ppc was awful, but this version:
has no voicemail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
has no contact search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still has no decent ringtone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
won’t allow contact # reference during calls!!!
won’t close to taskbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
won’t reconnect upon a newly connected router!!
basically, this version doesn’t take advantage of any of the awesome hardware/features that it was included/marketed with!! (camera, keyboard, smooth interface w/ streamlined OS)
the n800 and n810 have been around for awhile now, and so have the complaints. plus, i’ve always been annoyed by the complete neglect their forums receive. if skype keeps neglecting updates/bugs, they’re going to loose business fast.
when will veido come to the n800
when will veido come to the n800
video is not a priority compared to the phone just working, which it does not a good portion of the time. calls drop, voicemails show up when i’m online and there was no call notification, calls don’t go to voicemail when i’m online which is MAJOR considering half the numbers in my contacts show as unknown numbers. and of course all numbers not in my contacts. how would i know who called me. i can’t hear the ringer when its in my pocket. half the time voicemails don’t play. half the time the mic doesn’t work til reboot. video are you kidding. please fix voice and add sms before the one percent of calls that would be video, oh and then add video. i’ve had this since feb. and i’ve never seen an update. i’d use alternatives but i already paid for skype for a year
