Today we have made another big step forward to be with Skype for Mac client on the same feature set as we are with Windows.

We have released a initial beta version of Skype 2.7 for Mac Beta version, grab it straight from here. I will remind to you that this is a public beta release, which means that it is not yet fully ready for production use, as it may have some rough edges in.

This new open beta incorporates many amusing new features, like:

* Address Book contacts in contact list
* Auto redial
* Contact groups
* Public chat creation
* Transfer preferences
* Volume slider in call window
* Added Norwegian (Bokmål), Czech (Čeština) Localizations. Thanks to Kenneth Stevenson, Lukáš Vajda. (party)

You can read more about the new features and numerous improvements on our Skype for Mac blog.

As always we encourage you to leave us feedback how our new and shiny version works for you, so we can give it a final polishing for prime usage.

You can report problems to us on our public public issue tracker Jira, read how to do it on our Skype for Mac developement page or discuss things on dedicated forum for Skype 2.7 for Mac Beta.

    How about an “hide offline contacts” or “group offline contacts”? It could be very usefull!

    many times (but not all) when I start skype, i have to close/open groups that i want to be closed/open. it is really annoying.
    Also, I have heard all my skypein messages but they keep appearing up as ‘unread’. anyway to fix this?

    I use Skype in place of a phone. In the course of the day, I often find myself calling a corporate voice mail system or an individual for whom I have to dial an extension in addition to the main phone number.

    These situations would be vastly simplified (enabling me to avoid manually inputting a lot of numbers) if the dialing feature would include all of the following:

    –a phone number
    –additional numbers, such as access codes for voice mail or an extention
    –pauses (which allow the automated answering or switching device to respond to the codes)

    please for the love of god give us some network controls .. none of our machines can “see” each other on their local network and always go through proxies making transfers slow. ITs a windows/mac mix so bonjour is only a partial solution.

    If I can ping it I should be able to skype to it..

    Ew, the Skype icon is all non-shiny now even though the Skype icon on the login screen is shiny.

    I also liked the ripple effect and it would be nice to have that back when opening history.

    Also, i would realllyyyy appreciate it if in addition to having automatically dialing a country code, you could also automatically dial an area code or some such thing.

    A really nice feature would be to have some way of setting notifications on individual users. Say I have an urgent business with someone. I would like to not miss when they are online and have a pop up allert me when they are.
