News from the Jira front

If you have used Jira during the past year or so to get help from us, then you know that I’m the person who is mostly taking care of these requests. My name is Mirje and I’m the Skype Developer Support Technician. All bugs and feature requests related to Public API and Extras are going through me.

I have decided to start giving updates regarding recent or most urgent problems found in these areas. Also recently solved cases might be interesting and useful to know, so please keep on reading if you’re interested.

]]>First, lets cover the **known problems**:

**Public API** (SPA Jira project):

+ [SPA-324](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-324) – Not possible to set audio device if its name ends with spaces. Currently no solution but it’s being worked on.
+ [SPA-339](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-339) – Audio API outputs datastream which gets out of sync over time. Not fixed yet, work is ongoing.
+ [SPA-276](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-276) – Forwarded By not available for SkypeIn calls. The fix has been delayed for a long time, but the hope is to get it live with some of the 3.5 hotfixes.
+ [SPA-228](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-228) – Switching to silent mode takes very long. This problem has been worked on and it will be fixed in some 3.5 hotfixes.
+ [SPA-315](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-315) – SkypeIn calls are shown as INCOMING P2P, not INCOMING PSTN like it used to be. This is the new design now and it won’t change back. Check Jira for workaround.

**Extras** (PIF Jira project):

+ [PIF-601](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-601) – Tools -> Do More often does not display the Extras. It’s a long standing bug, still no solution.
+ [PIF-714](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-714) – 100% CPU usage for Skypepm.exe. It’s fixed but not live yet, so still listing as a bug.
+ [PIF-671](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-671) – “Checking for available licenses” message when attempting to launch Extras. No solution yet. If somebody can reproduce, please provide us drm info file. More info from the Jira case.
+ [PIF-691](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-691) – Time based licenses not expiring correctly. This has been fixed according to Easybits, but no testing has been done yet, so I’m still listing this one as a bug.

**Recently fixed** issues:

**Public API** (SPA Jira project):

+ [SPA-318](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-318) – It wasn’t possible to reset audio device back to Windows default audio device with commands SET AUDIO OUT and SET AUDIO IN by SKYPE API with versions 3.2.0.163 and 3.5.0.107. These commands got the following response: “ERROR 50 cannot set device”. The problem has been fixed in Skype 3.5.0.113 and later plus also 3.2 later versions.
+ [SPA-198](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-198) – Changes in the Silent Mode confirmation dialog, now there’s an option to say that the next time the same application wants to use Silent Mode the permission will be granted automatically. This is from Skype version 3.5.0.178 and up.
+ [SPA-313](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-313) – App2App messaging has been improved when using Skype4Com. Fixed in recently released version Skype4Com 1.0.28.
+ [SPA-244](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-244) – Missing transfer status events with Skype4Com. This has also been fixed in version Skype4Com 1.0.28.

**Extras** (PIF Jira project):

+ [PIF-656](https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/PIF-656) – It’s possible to localize the Friendly Name and Description of your Extra so that people with different UI languages can still understand what this Extra is about before even installing it.

Additionally, if you are having some questions of your own and want to get help, please read [this Forum post](http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=70328) for instructions and hints.

    Hi Mirje,

I wanted to report an issue about a Skype blog. Somehow I got to https://developer.skype.com/jira/login.jsp Then I wanted to sign-on to it. However, it sent me to jira.atlassian.com and though I registered there I can’t report anything at Skype Jira.

The Skype Jira page https://developer.skype.com/jira/login.jsp also links to https://developer.skype.com/jira/secure/Administrators.jspa which says I could contact some real people, but I don’t see a way to contact them.

The actual problem that I wanted to report: when I access https://developer.skype.com/MacSkype in Firefox 2.0.0.14, it shows an RSS/Atom icon. But when I click at it, it goes wrong:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

      Hey Peter,

If you haven’t used our Jira before then you should first register here – https://developer.skype.com/jira/secure/Signup!default.jspa
The registration is Skype username and password based and only a one time procedure. Next times you can just use your usual Skype login details to log in to Jira also.

If you can, please add this problem to Jira although I will try to take a look at this problem anyways.

      Regards,
      Mirje
