Welcome back, Skypecasts

As some of you might now Skypecasts didn’t work on Macs for a while due to a tricky bug that came about when we upgraded the architecture behind these public conversations. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this caused and are happy to announce they are back now, leaner and meaner than ever before. We hope you enjoy the improved sound quality that this upgrade brought you. Browse the Skypecasts directory and see (or hear) for yourself.

I would suggest dragging the skype application into the garbage bin and reinstalling. You may wish to check with diskutil in the utility folder to check permissions and your drive for errors after deleting the program. Fixing permissions before reinstalling is a good idea.

Sorry if this is posted at the wrong area but I wasn’t sure as to how to send a comment to you.

I have been able to successfully import 300 contacts from Mac Mail into Skype. Problem is that if a person has several numbers for example, home, work and mobile Skype lists it like this.

    Bobby
    Bobby
    Bobby

There is no indicator as to Bobby (cell). So basically I have no clue which number to use making the import feature unusable. Could this be updated?

Can you use skype with the new macbooks – with the built in cameras?

This again may be psoted to the wrong spot. The tech support area however would not allow me to enter a description of the problem hence it would not allow me to submit. I am using Mac OSX 10.3.9 and this may be the only way to get help.

I have the latest skype version.

    I have two problems.
    1. I get unexpected occassional crashing of the program when using skype pro to call phone numbers.
    2. Occassionally skype connects to phone numbers and there is no sound.

    Thanks

I just installed the skype software on my new MacBook Pro and it works fine, easy to set up.

skypecasts doesn’t work for me either am i being stupid as it costantly insists I need v3.2 for windows. Alas I prefer the superiority of the mac so maybe this is something I will have to forego

Skype 2.7.0330 crashes whenever I try to answer a call or make one. I have a Powerbook G4 with OS 10.4.11 Can anyone help me or is the solution to trade-in my Mac for a PC? Skype can’t be used for phone calling in or out. It’s been crashing for months. Even though I’ve paid for a one year subscription, I can’t use it.

Hi karenbernath, (your comment on Monday, Jan 5)

I have the same problems for 3 days now and I think it’s down to the high number of users and that Skype might need to update their servers to cope with the increased customer demand.
