Next week, Skype will launch a promotion for an upcoming Sony movie called Vacancy.
The campaign will initially launch in the UK and will then gradually be released to other regions in Europe as the film is released. This is also how using the Extras channel you can release your applications or games only to certain regions or adjust with the localization.
The movie is a thriller based around a young couple who are lost and become stranded in an isolated Motel. So now, let’s have a look… and play!

The campaign consists of four elements, which are:
* a game
* a movie preview
* providing a Skype number to call the hotel
* adding a viral component that advises your friends that you have booked them a hotel reservation.
Skype teamed up with extras partners Digitrad to provide the Skype calling functionality and Easybits to deliver the campaign.
Neil Barrett-Bowen, the extras business lead explained that:
Sony was interested in working with extras, as it provided an opportunity for users to explore and experience the film through the various interactive elements which build and develop intrigue.
You can check the campaign out under the “Movies” tab in Extras for all Skype versions 3.2 and above.
