So long Mat Taylor

Mat.jpg

Dear partners,

We’re sad to say it, but Mat Taylor will be leaving Skype today (April 13th 2007) to explore pastures new. :(

Mat has been a major advocate for the developer community, and perhaps most significantly has personally driven the Extras Manager launch for 3.0 within SDP.

We’ve now exceeded 10 million Extras downloads as a result.

Apparently Mat has given into the dark side that is BT, and will be driving their “21st century web” activities.

You could still get in touch with him here: Mat Taylor

Just for the fun, check his first post… so long Mat, things are evolved within SDP thanks to you!

Mat, we wish you the very best! (y)

]]>In Mat’s words…

I Joined Skype in Jan 2005, to build up our API and create our Developer Program. My main focus was on managing the introduction of many new features for the API and working with numerous partners to help build new Skype centric products around these API’s.

I also played a lead role in rolling out the first versions of the DevZone, Software Certification program, Extras Gallery, Toolbars for IE, COM wrappers, Outlook and Firefox. Last year I was mainly concentrated on leading the development and delivery of the Extras Framework – a viral software distribution and licensing platform for Skype plugins.

More recently I have been working with new partners for Skype Games, Movie and other Extras channels.

Regards,

Paul.

FYI: API & SDK delivery work will be taken on by Peeter Mõtsküla & team in SDP, and we will be recruiting a Platform Partner Manager for the partner integration & Extras channel technical consulting.
