Skype 3.1 gold, SkypeFind and Prime Beta updates

Skype 3.1 for Windows is now available as final “gold” public version. [Download here.](http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/) See the [press release.](http://about.skype.com/2007/03/skype_goes_beyond_voice_and_introduces_skypefind_and_beta_version_of_skype_prime.html)

The two major new features in this version, apart from the new typing indicator, are SkypeFind and Skype Prime Beta. See my [previous post about 3.1 beta](http://blogs.skype.com/sites/en/2007/02/skype_31_beta_for_windows_skyp.html) that talks about SkypeFind, typing indicator and other new things in 3.1, and see the [Prime Beta](http://blogs.skype.com/sites/en/2007/03/skype_prime_beta_introducing_t.html) posts. Here are some updates to both of these that we released today.

### SkypeFind competition

SkypeFind

We are running a competition around SkypeFind until the beginning of July. Just list a business in SkypeFind, and if it happens to be the one where people call most, as compared to the other listings, you may win some Skype Credit every week, or pure cash each month. See the campaign details and more info in [English (US)](http://www.skype.com/campaigns/skypefind/), [English (UK)](http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/campaigns/skypefind/), [French](http://www.skype.com/intl/fr/campaigns/skypefind/), [German](http://www.skype.com/intl/de/campaigns/skypefind/) or [Japanese](http://www.skype.com/intl/ja/campaigns/skypefind/).

### Skype Prime Beta information

Skype Prime Beta

Skype Prime Beta now has a [product page](http://www.skype.com/products/skypeprime/) that sums up all the relevant info, and there are [user guides](http://www.skype.com/help/guides/skypeprime/) that tell you more about how to set it up and use it. Plus you can now have web snippets to promote your Skype Prime call service right on your home page, blog, website or wherever else on the internet. [See here for more on the badges.](http://www.skype.com/go/skypeprime) And here’s an example badge I made for echo123. She doesn’t actually know anything about tambourines and won’t charge you any money, this is just an example.

Tambourine painting consulting

Want to paint your tambourine but don't know how? I can help. With expertise from certified tambourine painters, you will be up and running in no time.

Please keep the [feedback coming](http://blogs.skype.com/sites/en/2007/03/skype_prime_beta_feedback_than.html) — it’s you all who help us make and improve Skype. Thanks :)

Great new features, but why reducing the functionality of the interface we were getting so used to?
This new release (3.1) gives even less space to display contacts, as there’s an extra line with the account info, while this was previously neatly fitted next to the skype-name at the top.
Would be nice to have an option to
    * remove the extra account line (as in v 3.0)
    * also remove the extra line with buttons ‘add’ ‘search’ and ‘conference’ (as in v 2.x)

The easier/cleaner the interface, the easier to use!

Comment on Skypefind – could you make the competition so it also benefits people wh oare adding many listings in other words – a prize for the person who added the most listings in each country respectively, and one for the total amount of new listings added.. etc, so more people can benefit, and then more people will spend time adding as many listings as they can.. anyway its just an idea.. regards simon – south africa

Hi Jaanus. Skype 3.1 is great ! Good job guys.
I have a issue here. When skype is running and I try to Shut Down Windows XP notthing happened. If you look to Event Viewer->System you get ERROR Description: “The attempt to power off failed”. So is this especific local error or a skype known error?
