Shall we code together?

As Don Kennedy shared with us about Skype4COM latest release, we thought you could have some good sample code or examples you would like to link or upload in the DevZone.

We are keen on sharing (never too much). So from now, you and us can provide to others who are just starting out examples on how to use any Skype API interfaces (actually Skype4COM to begin with) as much as possible new examples.

A new page has been created that allows developers to show code snippets.

Please, feel free to contribute under the language section of your choice (both by uploading or downloading).

This new page can be found here: https://developer.skype.com/Docs/Examples

Don’t by shy, let’s help some of the new developers out and save them some time, post your examples there, and show everyone just how easy and flexable the Skype4COM interface really is, for example.

Hi Antoine – or anyone else at Skype. I’m not sure where to go with this, but I am going to try here first.

I am the developer of Pocket Informant – the leading PIM replacement on the Pocket PC and Smartphone. We’ve got a few hundred thousand users and some are complaining that the new Skype 2.2 beta does not properly work with our software.

Let me go back for a minute. Pocket Outlook contains two APIs – one deprecated and one supported on WM2003/WM5 and up – for adding menu items to Pocket Outlook. When a user tap and holds on a contact in Pocket Outlook, Pocket Outlook checks to see what plugins exist and calls them to initialize them – basic IContext stuff.

We do the exact same thing so that all plugins that show up in Pocket Outlook show up in Pocket Informant. All except for Skype it seems. Skype shows a menu obviously called Skype when a user brings up a context menu on a contact. I am not privy to what Skype is doing there, but I am assuming its depending on some menu commands that we have different because of course we do a lot more than Pocket Outlook does.

I would like to get in touch with some of the Windows Mobile Skype developers so I can find out exactly why its not working and what we can do – on both sides perhaps – to make this work.

To get in touch, best thing is to simply have someone contact us from our home page – http://www.pocketinformant.com/ as I’d prefer not to give out my email here.

    Thanks!

Please, please, please tell me where I can get at the Skype4com API reference. None of the links work and the developer website seems to be permanently unavailable.
