Tuk to the Road — two girls, three wheels, ten thousand miles

Skype is sponsoring Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent and Jo Huxster as they [drive a Thai Tuk Tuk from Bangkok to Brighton](http://www.tuktotheroad.co.uk/album.html) as they try to raise £50,000 for the mental health charity, [MIND](http://www.mind.org.uk/). (You can also call them Ants and Jo. Plus there’s Ting Tong the tuk tuk.)

On 20th May (already this Saturday), the girls — best friends since the age of 12 — will be setting off on the long trip. They will be using Skype all the way to keep in touch with friends and family, via the Internet, wherever they are on route. Their Skype Name is [tuktotheroad](skype:tuktotheroad?userinfo).

]]>Ants and Jo will be using Skype Video and Skypecasts, so hundreds of Skype users anywhere in the world can participate in a live voice discussion and get an update on their adventure.

### The journey

Their journey will last 12 weeks and will take them through some of the world’s most remote countries. The pair expect to face daily challenges on their journey, whether it’s pushing the Tuk Tuk out of potholes or having to charm their way past burly border guards, but one thing they can be sure of is that they will not lose contact with friends and family at home and around the world.

After leaving Bangkok the girls will drive north through Laos and China. At X’ian, start of the ancient Silk Route, they will turn west and head for the plains of Central Asia, along roads used by traders since 2000BC. Having cut through Kazakhstan the pair will hit Russia. Then it’s the home stretch; the Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, France and England.

See their [homepage](http://www.tuktotheroad.co.uk/) or the [diary](http://tuktotheroad.blogspot.com/) for more.

I wish you both well on your travels, tuktotheroad. Being an avid traveler of sorts this sounds like a fun and very profound trip. I will be reading your journals as you go and wishing I was there to help push or pull as needed.

That’s great Skype is supporting MIND. Mental health is a critical yet often over looked and ignored part of society. I wish these ladies well in their journey, but I have to admit, it does sound it bit crazy.
