An Introduction…

Hi everyone! I started at Skype last week – and I figured it would be rude for me to not introduce myself to our loyal Skype users who read our blogs!

My name is Ryan Hunt, and I’ve been brought on board as a Project Manager to help speed up things with both the Mac and Linux clients. I come from a Linux background, and “fell” into the Mac world a few years ago. I stopped using Windows for good about 2 years ago – so I strongly understand what it’s like for all you Mac/Linux users out there!

Brief about me: I’m originally from Australia, and my passions outside of Skype include Snowboarding, Travel, Technology, just to name a few. I have my own personal blog – http://ryanhunt.net/ if you care to read about my non-skype life. It’s mostly focused on my travels around the globe, but has bits and pieces about technical stuff!

Nice to Skype you!

- Ryan.

    Ryan -

Welcome. It would be great if you could write up a quick 1 paragraph blurb detailing the challenges Skype is facing releasing a 1.4.0.35 compatible Universal Binary build of Skype. Along with this, we would love to know Skype’s release plans and dates for the following:
    - Universal Binary support
    - Skype 2.0 compatability complete with video
    - Skype 2.5 compatability

And no, some time during X quarter doesn’t cut it. I keep finding myself over at the GizmoProject site. The whole world is changing.

    Enjoy your new gig!

    Just downloaded 1.4.0.49

Webpresence. Cool. Now would require some “serious” businees style bouttons.

    Hi Rayan
Welcome aboard. Adding more resources to the Mac team is the only way to speed up progress. I think this is a step in the right direction. The only thing we ask from the team is to ocassionally keep us posted. I think you will make many happy if you could that. Again welcome and try to have some fun. You are between friends

Welcome Ryan – now can you please get them to deliver video on the mac (even if it’s rough as guts!)?

    Ryan and Mac Team,
Thank You all for the fine work on the UB version. I was Skype starved after switching to my new iMac Intel about a month and a half ago. This completes my transistion to the Mac as I use Skype Audio frequently. This version runs fine, fast and appears to work great! Thanks again for all your efforts in releasing the UB.
For only being on the team a week and then this release, well thats pretty dang good–)))
I can wait very patiently for the video now that I can chat with my PC Skype contacts.
Have a Great Weekend to all on the Skype Mac Team.

With Universal support out of the way, I wonder how things are progressing with video Skype…
