A Warm Hello From New York!

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the Skype blog readership. My name is Scott Indrisek, and I handle public relations and user outreach for Skype in the United States. What does this mean, exactly? It means that I get to talk to a fantastic variety of Skypers on a daily basis, from tech-savvy soldiers stationed in Iraq to long distance lovebirds who stay connected from coast to coast. Along with Jaanus, I’ll be posting some of the most intriguing stories as I come across them, as well as keeping everyone updated on what the Skype team in the Big Apple is up to. In the meantime, if you’ve got a unique Skype story you’re eager to tell, I’d love to hear from you. I’m excited to be able to share the creative and inspiring ways that our users have been staying connected!

    Hi Scott!

I thought I’d drop you a note about our use of Skype. I operate an online letter writing service at http://www.l-mail.com, in short, users type a letter and we print it from one of twenty or so locations around the world. We’re a bit like Skype in that we save users quite a bit on international postage as we post letters locally to the recipient.

Anyway, I just wanted to say how great Skype is for our business. With partners all around the world it makes for one reliable and convenient way to keep in touch with everyone. We use the conference tool service, Skypeout and the regular skype chatting daily.

Skype has saved us a small fortune in call costs, in a similar way we save our customers money on postage.

Thanks for all your hard work!

    Pete

Hello Scott, I’m glad someone at Skype can speak english. Sorry I don’t mean this to be any bit negative, but with skype never replying to my many emails, I’d figure that skype was a non-English speaking company. Now that I have rested from my past frustrations with Skype, I can say that the SkypeOut works great!, while my first reason for signing up with Skype was for their SkypeIN features, I’d like to give skype another chance at Inbound telephony (skypeIN). Do you know if they have their act together now on this product? Or will my payment be attributed to SkypeOut minutes instead with no recource and no reply?

    Thank you, and Good day!

    Scott,
Thank you for your work with Skype. Heck, thank you everybody who help make this a great product and service. I first started using Skype as a link to do remote audio back to my ham radio station. The audio quality is amazing on broadband and surprisingly good on 48k dial-up connections and the latency is
I recently bought a SkypeIn number and am using the free U.S./Canada SkypeOut service to help reduce my cell phone usage. Once again, amazing stuff.
I do recommend the service to anybody and everybody, though I still use it mostly for ham radio and for the SkypeOut service… but I’m working on ‘em.

Thanks again. Patrick / Tacoma, WA

    Hi Scott,

My name is Felix Mortimer and I run a theatre company in Leeds, UK. In February we are using Skype to live-stream one of our productions (via three webcams/three computers) to San Francisco as part of an inter-displinary art summit there.

I was wondering if there was any chance of a partnership with skype on this project? As we have limited resources and know-how. Its a really exciting opportunity for a trans-atlantic theatre experience in collaboration with The University of California, Berkley and The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.
